Imagine watching your neighbour's house burn down and, instead of helping, complaining about the smell of the smoke.
😆 I can kill spiders, but I can't wash my car because we are in stage 3 watering restrictions. The Okanagan is in a severe drought 🙁
It's hard to reconcile how beautiful this looks with what it means. The orange sky, more than a sunset. Smoke fills the valley, making it hard to breathe. What was once an occasional crisis is becoming just another part of summer. Beauty can exist alongside grief. Today, they share the same sky.
I hear they're best served with a side of deregulation and a steaming cup of culture war 💁🏻♀️
Found this little fella stuck to my office door this morning. What am I supposed to watch out for? Falling rocks? Escaped convicts? Aliens? I wish they had been more specific. Gotta love working for a politician.
This is what reconciliation and decolonization look like. Choosing humility over hostility, relationship over division, and remembering that colonialism taught us to turn on one another. Healing doesn't require agreement. It requires respect.
I'll take a system where everyone can see a doctor, regardless of the size of their bank account, over one where getting sick can mean bankruptcy. Socialized medicine is something worth protecting and improving. 🇨🇦 Happy #SocialistSunday to those who observe 🙂
Progress isn't about speed. It's about continuing. Be patient with yourself. 🐢
🫂 my boy visits me in my dreams often. I will get another dog one day, hopefully sooner than later.
"You just want free stuff." No. I want the taxes we all pay to provide services. The whole purpose of taxes is to accomplish together what we can't accomplish alone. Hospitals. Schools. Infrastructure. That's not "free stuff" That's the purpose of a functioning society. Happy #socialistSunday 🙂
You can't protect children from racism by pretending it doesn't exist. Some children experience discrimination long before they're old enough to understand why. Teaching honesty, empathy, and the history of racism doesn't create division. It helps raise kinder, more compassionate people.
Canada Day can be complicated, especially for many Indigenous people. Our history on this land holds much injustice and pain. But I love Canada, deeply, fiercely. Not because she is perfect, but because I believe we can learn, grow, & become better. Patriotism isn't pretending our history is... 1/2
These traditions are not performances for others. They are living expressions of identity, knowledge, resilience, and survival. After generations of policies that sought to erase us, We Are Still Here. ✊🏻✊🏼✊🏽✊🏾
Maga logic 🤪 Visibility doesn't create identity. It creates understanding, empathy, and the reassurance that everyone deserves to be treated with dignity. 🌈
Who's lobbying who, pierre? Who's sitting at your table whispering in your ear? Funny how the loudest accusations about influence often come from people surrounded by corporate lobbyists. Canadians deserve transparency, not projection.
🤯 What a radical concept: make promises, then spend your political capital trying to keep them.
That's the difference between systems built around profit and systems built around people.
A society is judged by how it treats its most vulnerable, and no child should go hungry while extreme wealth goes untaxed. Happy #marxistMonday to those who observe 🙂✊🏻
Albertans: "We can't afford to live." Government: "Have you tried being distracted?"
