I also had a hot grandad. Disconcerting to realise in a way that hot granny isn't? (Maybe tempered by knowing how wildly mentally ill she was?) He had abs when my mum was a child in the 60s, I didn't think they'd invented abs yet! Although tbf he was crazy strong well into his late 70s/early 80s.

Brough back a bottle of mint syrup from France because Sirop de menthe avec l'eau is my favourite drink you get over there. And I gotta tell ya cold minty sugar water is helping a LOT with the heatwave! I thought the bottle would last a good month but I'm 3/5ths through it in 6 days.

Blue ikea drinking glass that's frosty with condensation and filled with a clear but deep green liquid. It looks so refreshing.

Friend's wedding celebration in Toulouse on Saturday was wonderful. Landed home at 4.20pm (ayyy!) yesterday then Ian had his very successful dead dad society show in Sin é at 7pm. We got home about midnight. Today being awake is v hard but I had the best weekend. Here's me in Toulouse:

Ian helped me bleach my hair today and all going well it'll be blue by Tuesday, blue for Toulouse 😊 And if not it will at least be a more even blonde and my giant sunhat will hide any bits that aren't 😅 Also fucked up my skin by going too hard-core on the acids so now my cheeks are scaley 🙈 Be grand

Me, a white Irish woman with naturally very dark brown hair which has been bleached blonde. Some of it is white blonde, some of it is still a warm yellow golden blonde. My eyebrows are still dark and my eyes are a dark hazel. I am doing an exhausted almost smile at the camera.

Do I keep the dress and buy beige pants and bra in penneys? Or do I return it and find something else potentially cheaper/more rewearable? It has pockets, and I would need to apply suncream to only a few bits of me (I am on sun sensitising and photosensitising meds) This is she:

White but technically cream milkmaid style dress with pouffy sleeves, a shirred top, and maxi skirt. The fabric is a cream on cream gingham with different botanical illustrations on it of flowers and fruits with their leaves and seems and under each one is it's name in cursive green writing.

God forbid I think people should engage critically with media and check the reliability of their sources? Caolan hasn't had some revelatory change of attitude, it just became less profitable to work for the alt-right so he pivoted. It was a business decision not a moral one.

Finished clearing, weeding, and sweeping the front garden. And also I got rid of as much ivy as possible. Didn't dig up the roots so it'll grow back but now it won't be covering a layer of weeds and various rubbish. My lower back is dying.

The wall is covered in ivy and the brown bin is off to one side it's the one for garden waste. There is so much soil and rubbish and so many weeds on the ground. The driveway from the same angle I took the first photo from, now with housemate's car, the wall and driveway are totally clean! The ivy is gone! It's a lot greyer but in this instance that's good.

This is the half I did the other day it's the half of the driveway with no car in it the bins are stored on the right hand side. The driveway and stairs are entirely weeded and swept. It looks good.

I was in the vatican museums last month and there were so many statues but my favourite were six - all different - statues of children holding birds. Like toddler sized and clutching a duck or a dove! They were so sweet and funny and I can only think it must have been a fashion at one stage?

She's beautiful! The middle had to be Eton Mess inspired because the meringue stuck to the greaseproof paper so I had to crumble it.

Mango chaat for lunch! Hell yeah! Hell yeah!

It's cubed mango, crushed plain tortilla chips, roasted cubed baby potatoes, peanuts, and chaat masala, pomegranate molasses because my tamarind paste was gone off, and fresh lime juice, the tiniest bit of lemon black pepper mayo for creaminess, and ginger. Yum yum yum yum yum.

Now I know they mean inpatient, but the impatient waiting list gave me a sensible chuckle.

One of my favourite statues in Rome (and there are SO many statues omg!) is one from the Vatican Museum of Silenus with the child Dionysus. You just don't see fathers and sons portrayed so tenderly very often in art. I just think it's lovely.

A naked man, Ian tells me he should be a Saytr, holding a wriggling baby in his arms and looking down into it's face. He has grapes and leaves in his hair and so does the baby. There is a column that looks like a tree trunk with a grape vine winding around it supporting the statue because the original was bronze and can support more dynamic poses than marble can so the marble recreations needed supports.

Eating hot fresh sandwiches in the sun with wine, beer, cola... Waiting for the K-pop Demon Hunters tribute bands at 3pm 😂 For some reason that's part of the Liberation Day festivities at the former Barracks near our hotel. Later we're going to the Etruscan Museum & then the student area for dinner.

Found a random bistro that specialises in dumplings and we got five of those each, and a noodle stir fry (Asian spaghetti with salad as the lady explained to us) and a coke each. Meat for Ian, no meat for me. €35 all in. Ridiculous.

My vegetarian stir fry, soy sauce coated udon noodles with finely chopped cabbage, onion, carrot, courgette, and egg pieces like you'd get in fried rice. Super delicious.

First pizza of the week in Rome and it's from a restaurant attatched to a train station. I think it was €4 if I'm reading my bank statement correctly.
