I was surprised to encounter Alexander Siddig in the Poirot episode Cards on the Table. And am I… imagining it… or did they darken his complexion for this role? It could be the lighting, Star Trek lighting does wash one out. But especially in the early scenes he looks very bronzed with makeup.

We got to meet and feed penguins at the aquarium yesterday! The penguins get to choose if they want to visit with us and how long they want to stay. Many hung out long after the fish were gone to play with toys and chase bubbles and try to steal my wedding ring and badge. Charming weirdos.

This is legit one of the best meals I’ve ever grilled. Shrimp, peppers, and onions marinated in peri peri sauce, mayo, garlic, and lemon juice with Peruvian papas amarillas roasted until crispy. I feel like the shrimp and peppers would be really good over pasta too.

This is the bottle we shall drink when he is gone.

This was an extremely good cocktail. I wasn’t sure it would be nice on a hot day as it has a wintry flavor profile but it was surprisingly refreshing.

Went on a tour of High West Distillery, on which we were allowed to try any of these non publicly available whiskies. Then dinner at their Saloon restaurant. I am so full of whisky and elk ragu I can’t move.

We survived the 2.5 hour drive to the lake, the shlepping of all the stuff to the shore, the 9 hours at the beach, and doing it all in reverse! It was very fun but we are all exhausted and everything hurts. Totally worth it.

Grilled bacon, roast pepper, and onion pizza. Last summer I was too depressed to grill pizza or anything else so there’s a bit of relearning curve, but hoping to make this a weekly summer habit!

I am in my cold, premade dinners era. Last night we had deviled eggs, balsamic bacon potato salad, cold grilled asparagus, and grapes. Tonight is a side salad with leftover grilled steak, pesto pasta salad, more deviled eggs, and watermelon. Hot meals will be grilled outside only until September 😂

Okay I know it’s risky to post feet pics online and anyone getting weird will be blocked, but I have to show off these fancy driving loafers my cousin passed down to me. They’re so soft and PURPLE. I am going to change my entire wardrobe to only clothes that match these shoes.

I know it’s not really funny but whenever I hear these stories all I can think about is that fake Lifetime movie from 30 Rock 😂
