Used to be a full time parent, now it's back to being a full time engineer/air quality specialist, part time (wishing it to be fulltime) gardener. Kempton Park, South Africa
The dog has found a nartjie on the compost pile so it's her favourite toy for the day. Obviously me wanting to take it away only makes it even more her favourite.
Did the Sterkfontein Caves again today. Still a very cool site. Good work out too.
Good weekly games night. We played "Get Bit!" , where one have to escape from a shark where the unfortunate last player in line would loose a limb to said shark. Also played "King of New York" , where you play Kaiju rampaging through the city's burrows, trying to bump off other competing monsters
Today we are playing Eldritch Horror. Cooperative game where each player is an investigator, working together against an eldritch monster trying to get into our world.
We finally have a tomato ripening on the vine. Also I've planted out my herbs who've grown quite a bit.
Namibia is probably one of the most colourful places from the air in the world. Yes I'm procrastinating, why do you ask...?
Managed to play some Jump Drive with the kid today. It was her first proper game with text on the cards so very proud of her. Nice little engine builder and very accessible. Very cool reuse of the old Race for the Galaxy icons too. Too bad it's only up to four people.
My wife booked me for and the kid for a water colour session today. Was fun.
Dispite growing these tamato plants in the winter, they looks pretty good. I'm still not sure when the fruits will start ripening. If this was a normal cooler winter I'm not sure this would have worked.
Good gaming night playing some Ethnos, Trio and Cockroach Poker. We had a good nail biter of an Ethnos game with two people sharing the win.
Seedlings have finally all sprouted and been planted out into separate containers. The spinach seeds was too old. So I might need to try some thing else. Maybe rainbow chard?
Fixing my glasses. Again. Nothing like a bit of absorbant cloth and super glue to the rescue. My last fix lasted almost 6 months.
Love Barenpark. We got the expansion and added in the monorails which makes placing green tiles very tricky.
Some board game tiles I made for one of my games. Finally getting used to my rotary cutter. It's a tricky thing to use. It's serviceable. At least the card art look readable. Cards are much easier to make.
It winter and cold, so where all holed up on the stoep with the heater on. Just me and the kid this weekend. So we've been playing some Lego and board games. Also the Internet is off so were kinda forced to do offline stuff ironically.
Friday gardening update. New dill, coriander and spinach seedlings on the way. The dill is doing great and will need to be planted out soon into bigger containers. The tomatoes are still here and doing great. Just not sure when the oldest fruits will start ripening.
I really like the new Lego Creator Pirate Ship. The fact that the crew are not just all dudes is pretty nice for a change. Might be time to dig out all my other pirate Lego.
Did a cool topographic map today. Quite impressed by how well it came out.
Painted some Egyptian style dude from the board game Kemet. Just had to do something else than work today.
Weekend gardening done for now. Very surprised how much soil is still left after taking out the grass. Next step is to finally build a proper compost bin. Did I mention how much I hate kukuyu grass...
Friday early morning gardening. Got some dill, coriander and spinach seeds on the windowsill going. Also tied down the tamatoes properly. I realised no that the pipe can definitely go higher up. Anyway the tamatoes looking great even though they slowed down a bit because of the colder temperatures.
We had the first good board game night in a long while. Pretty proud that even though we don't always play every week, the same people come back every time. Pretty thankful too.
Managed to finish these five the other day. Four more troopers almost done. So making progress. Can't wait to start with the Rebels.
