Republican Elizabeth Maier has ended her campaign challenging Democratic Rep. Rachel Baker for the 27th Ohio house District in the Cincinnati area. A press release posted to her website says she's doing so to spend more time with her children.

The Ohio Democrats Progressive Caucus is unhappy with Amy Acton over a statement she recently gave to the Toledo Blade saying she does not support "boys playing in girls sports," and calling the issue settled law in Ohio. The group says that statement will cost her votes and volunteers.

Ohio House Speaker Matt Huffman is up. He says people like to say the House speaker is the most powerful person in state government. But, he says it's really the governor who is most powerful - especially when it comes to vetoes, executive orders and cabinet appointments.
