Cornish choughs! In the Mayon cliff area, near Sennen cove / Land's end. Great view point. Apparently they were extinct in Cornwall in early 70s, then naturally started repopulating in early 2000s #Choughs #Corvidae #Cornwall #Ornithology
Very clear conditions this morning. Round island lighthouse on the Isles of Scilly, is approx 30 miles (48km) away, & Cape Cornwall ~3 miles. #Cornwall bsky.app/profile/andy...
Isles of Scilly are very clear this evening, 30 mins before sunset. Apparently 400+ trees were lost there during 100mph ish winds of storm Goretti back in Jan... #Cornwall
30km ride via Sancreed beacon and St Buryan. 7am start, really nice and quiet. Great views across Penzance bay. #Cycling #Photography #Cornwall
St Ives. Peak hols in July. We have an obligatory visit, and I have a gift shop threshold of about 1. So go for a walk around somewhere and rendezvous later. Nice day. #Cornwall
More ride pics. Geese waiting for the bus... Wesleyan chapel is a sad state. Original Porthgwarra sign, above the new one.
20km early morning spin around via Porthgwarra & Lands End, #Cornwall. It's been a few decades since I did LEJOG. 😁 Superb, and warm... #cycling #photography
Beach afternoon. 22C in the shade, & pleasantly warm on the beach. Managed to wrestle a new pop up beach tent back into its case, mainly by guesswork. Next job, prep a Greek salad... #Sennen #Cornwall #Beach #Photography
West Country ketch! Going past St Michael's Mount in Penzance bay... One of two currently sailing. 😮 Pic taken from Mousehole. #WestCountryKetch #Sailing #Sea #Cornwall #Photography
Not a bad sea view... 🙂 Good to be back in #Cornwall. #Sennen #Photography #Coast
Sunset! First day of #Cornwall visit. Near Sennen, Lands End. #Sunset #Photography
Usual mix of road & track today. 75km via Wallingford, Ewelme, then Icknield way / Ridgeway to Lewknor, & back on the Stoke Talmage Road. Great sections of track, & dry as a bone. Coffee & cake stop at the Spire & Spoke, without the hill... 🙂 #cycling #Oxfordshire #Ridgeway #IcknieldWay #Gravel
We always stop at Philps Pasties in Hayle, on the way back from staying near Land's End. So in August this year... 😁 There's also a Philps in Marazion...
20km ride for #sunset, west of Drayton village - looking towards Uffington White Horse, which may be covered in 'TW's' huge #WhiteHorseReservoir. Short bit of track to cross Marcham Mill bridge, now repaired. Enjoy the warmth without the direct sun, & not being coated in sunscreen... #Oxfordshire
20km spin before sunset, up through Cumnor (nr Oxford). Still 30C, but roads quieter... #Cycling #Oxfordshire #Sunset
Some drivers simply cannot help themselves. Read the highway code, muppets. #Abingdon #Culham #A415 #Oxfordshire #Infrastructure #Cycling #Driving #Cars #CarPhotography #Highwaycode
It was still around 30C an hour before sunset, but no sunscreen needed at least. 🙂 Went in direction on Wittenham Clumps. On the way back saw a pair of Barn owls👍 not far from the Didcot building expansion zone... 😕 #Oxfordshire #Cycling #sunset #photography
Wallingford bridge over the Thames. Early Sunday am. One car in front at start. By the time I reached the other side, I assume the lights had gone green for the total muppet, who couldn't wait for the way to be clear, & had to shout out of their window at me. 😠💩 #Oxfordshire #Cycling #Cars
Not bad up here. 😁 On the #Ridgeway, near the Letcombes. Not gonna lie, cold water, courtesy of the Elite thermal bottle is pretty good. 35mm tyres at about 35psi coping with flint so far... bsky.app/profile/andy...
The Ridgeway! Via Streatley. Here on an old DN&S disused railway line bridge. Must be close to peak butterfly atm; so many. 🙂👍 #cycling #photography
Definitely one of those 'wait! what?' moments, over the chocolate brownie...
Back from the Scotland trip, so the #CroixDeFer is now in stealth mode again. Rack & mudguards off for the time being. #Cycling
On the recent tour around the Ullapool - Lochinver area, one decision to be made was cycling footwear... I did not regret taking the SPD #sandals; superb. Weigh about 850g, so not exactly lightweight, but about the same as my usual laced + rachet 'gravel' SPDs...
The rtn Inverness to Edinburgh bit was an 'off peak' train rather than an ICty. No bike reservation coupons issued for this leg, though bikes were still reserved (I checked). Needed show train staff booking email info though... Hanger designed for 2 bikes, probs... bsky.app/profile/andy...
