Since retiring I have immersed myself in reading for pleasure. No Academic board papers and fewer subject related research journal papers. Every so often I tackle a “classic”. So my friends the time has come to venture into this. I’ll see you on the other side! #BloomsDay
What a book. “The Match” Mark Frost. Cypress Point Golf Course 1956. Two amateurs Ward and Venturi take on Nelson and Hogan. It not only describes the game but more importantly shines a light on the characters, golf in that era, the outstanding course architecture and life. So good. Recommended.
Another rehabilitative walk today. It’s always nice when you find the church is open. A few moments of quiet reflection. But where in the world?

Another significant step on my recovery road map today. Worked my way through my irons and 5 wood on the range at Rutland Water Golf Course. No ill effects. Striking the ball well. I’d say another three or four weeks might see me on the course proper. #kneereplacementsurgeryrecovery #golfswing

I’m now 74 days post op following a total right knee replacement. Discharged by the Physios with a final set of exercises and a plan to walk, walk, walk. Feels like I’ve really turned a corner this past week. Ventured out further afield this morning. Really pleased with progress. Onwards!

I attended the 52nd Charter Dinner for the Corby & District Lions Club on Friday evening at The White Hart in Lyddington. We celebrated the charitable and community work they do at a local and national level. My address focussed on the similarities in their work compared to the civic role of Mayor.

All good. It’ll be 8 weeks next Tuesday. Very happy with progress, as is the physiotherapist 👍 I’m now on a new set of exercises aimed at increasing flexion.
