Senator Ankit Jain

Elected U.S. Senator for Washington, DC. Fighting for the rights of 700k+ tax paying Americans. Connect with my office at
Busy days on the Hill fighting for DC. I rallied with advocates @oversightdemocrats.bsky.social shadow hearing on Trump's attacks on DC, lobbied Congress to vote NO on HR 9720, and we packed the hearing room as the bill was marked up. My message is clear: only Washingtonians govern Washingtonians.
East Potomac Park belongs to the people of DC, not to the President and his wealthy friends. Trump wants to turn this into a luxury playground for the ultra-rich. On Saturday, Washingtonians came out to Hains Point to say loud and clear: This park is not for sale #SaveEastPo
To ensure DC has strong advocacy in favor of statehood & Home Rule on Capitol Hill, I have personally fundraised every dollar we spend on our lobbyist—at zero cost to D.C. taxpayers. Want to help us keep fighting for DC residents? Donate here: goodchange.app/donate/jain5...
Trump wants to turn East Potomac Park into an luxury destination for his rich & powerful friends. But DC is fighting back! I was proud to stand with @wabadc @saveeastpo and our DC community at Hains Point today to tell Donald Trump: East Potomac Park is not for sale. 🚲⛳️🌸
I am sorry to report that Governor Josh Green of Hawaii has joined the Trump occupation of DC and sent National Guard troops here without the consent of our local government. These troops are a useless waste of money. Gov. Green, bring your troops home NOW
Loved celebrating the 4th with DC neighbors! While America celebrated 250 years of independence from taxation without representation, nearly 700k of us still live under that colonial mandate. We deserve an equal voice. #DCStatehood 📸: Damien Hubert / B. Minor Enterprises, LLC
Today we celebrate the birth of a great nation founded on the idea that no one should be taxed without representation, and we rededicate ourselves to ensuring it fulfills that promise and gives voting representation through #DCStatehood to the 700,000+ residents of DC. Happy Independence Day!
DC General Election Update: For the At-Large seats, the RCV process will shift a bit from the format we saw in the primary. Listen to me break down the changes below so you can stay informed on the changes before you cast your ballot! #DCVotes #DCGeneralElection www.instagram.com/reel/DaDa7Y4...
Our community showed up loud, proud, and beautifully queer for the Capital Pride Parade! 🏳️🌈✨Incredible energy on the streets celebrating love, joy, and community. Huge thanks to everyone who marched with our delegation. Love wins every single day!
We have just learned that @govwhitmer.bsky.social and @GovTimWalz have bowed to Trump and sent hundreds of National Guard troops to occupy DC streets. Let me be clear in case these Dem Governors are not getting the message: DC DOES NOT WANT YOU TO SEND NATIONAL GUARD TROOPS HERE.
@fairvote.bsky.social D.C. showed up loud & clear for Juneteenth! ✊🏾 Incredible energy on the parade route celebrating Black liberation & culture. We honor this history by continuing the fight for civil rights, voting representation, & full #DCStatehood. Thank you to all who marched! 🇺🇸✨
Let’s show up loud for our community. My team and I will be out marching in tomorrow morning’s Juneteenth Parade, and we want you right there by our side as we continue to push for civil rights, justice, and full #DCStatehood
DC enacted these laws to provide some basic transparency on the actions of out-of-control ICE and Homeland Security Investigations agents in the District. I spoke with congressional offices to make sure these bills were not disapproved, and I am proud to see our hard work pay off
I joined @justinjpearson.bsky.social tonight for a conversation on how both the Callais decision neutering the Voting Rights Act and the opposition to DC statehood are part of the same resistance to Black and minority voting rights. Thank you to the Ward 2 Democrats and partners for organizing!
Share this video with someone who has never heard of DC’s Statehood Delegation. If you support the fight for DC statehood, submit testimony at bit.ly/fundstatehood to ask the DC Council to appropriately fund the fight and increase the Statehood Delegation’s funding by $100K for FY 2027
On 5/1 we celebrate #DCStatehoodDay! Thank you to the DC Statehood PAC for organizing this event where we rededicate ourselves to making Washington DC the 51st state in the nation. I truly do believe we are closer than we have ever been
1/ The proposed budget for the New Columbia Statehood Commission is $266,883 for FY27 –a 0% increase from FY26. Factoring in inflation, this is a net decrease of 14.9% in our budget since its creation in FY15. I am asking the DC Council to increase our budget by $100K
I realize it is "big loser" energy to quote a dissent, but given how much our country has lost today, I hope you will allow me to put a passage below from Justice Kagan's dissent that I found to sum up this case well
It was a pleasure to meet with former DC Mayor and current Federal City Council CEO Tony Williams today to discuss how we can reduce housing costs for Washingtonians
Here's how you can help my office continue to fight for you this tax season
The House Oversight Committee voted on Wednesday to advance forward a bill that would ban all traffic cameras in DC and allow right turns on red in front of playgrounds, schools, and recreation centers. See for yourself the ridiculous arguments they made in favor of this dangerous legislation
This bill would also stop DC from banning right turns on red at playgrounds, schools, and libraries. You can see below what law it repeals. Why are Republicans trying to make kids in DC just going to school or a playground less safe?
The bill sponsor has already admitted that he's doing this out of "personal frustration"! You can see for yourself what he says here: washingtonian.com/2026/03/05/w...
Thank you to the DC Bar Communities & Ann Wilcox for hosting an informative panel with the DC Board of Elections & me on how ranked choice voting will work in DC. I said in the panel, and reiterate here, that DCBOE should release full round-by-round preliminary results ASAP to promote voter trust
It was a full house at the @hillcenterdc.bsky.social for a screening and panel discussion of The Last Battlefront movie examining DC’s fight for statehood and Home Rule. Thank you for organizing and having me on the panel @freedcproject.bsky.social and Women in Film & Video!
I was glad to join my fellow Ward 2 Democrats today as they elected a new leadership slate. Congratulations to our new President @hgarrett4dc.bsky.social and the rest of the new leadership team--I am excited to see where the Ward 2 Democrats are headed next!
The President put out this post maybe a day before he signs a bill attempting to steal $600 million in local tax dollars from DC that we could use to fund DC Water to prevent the next Potomac spill. Spare me the BS that Republicans are better at providing people clean water
In light of the upcoming vote preventing DC from controlling its own finances, I joined forces with Free DC to seek a meeting with the office of Senator Lisa Murkowski to convince her to vote NO.
The Senate is voting on vetoing DC’s attempts to decouple our local taxes from Trump’s Big “Beautiful” Bill THIS WEEK. We need your help to protect DC’s tax system and stop tax increases for working families in DC. Use this link to help join the fight: freedcproject.org/news/dcs-mon...?
