Dear Senator Alsobrooks: Israel’s regime has been conducting a genocide in Palestine for years ~ not only bombing, shooting, and brutalizing its people, but starving them as well. They imprison innocent children, women, and men and torture and rape them. They’ve now passed a law to impose a specific form of capital punishment for Muslims only. For decades, Palestinians have been subject to apartheid rule in Israel. Israelis routinely invade and occupy land that’s legally owned by Palestinians, burn their homes, kill their animals, and often kill the people living on that land. They’re now bombing and killing people in Lebanon ~ and they’ve done all of this with billions of dollars of assistance from our government. And now we’re in an illegal and immoral war ourselves, killing innocent Iranians and carpet-bombing their cities and infrastructure, at Israel’s behest. We’re no longer viewed as strong, capable, or good on the world stage. We’re reckless and we’re murderers.
Please don’t mistake my recital of the actions of some Israeli people at the best and with the approval of the Israeli government, as anti-Semitic. I have no doubt there are many people in Israel who disagree with their government’s and their fellow citizens’ actions, just like there are many people here who are appalled and disgusted by the actions of our government and the people who support it.
You owe an explanation to the people of Maryland for why you’ve accepted more than $1.5 million from AIPAC ~ which while not “officially”, is aligned with the Israeli government and the Zionist movement. Accepting their money implies that you support the actions of the Zionist Israeli government. Do you? And if you don’t support them and merely took AIPAC’s money, why aren’t you suggesting that we fully stop funding Israel’s genocide and apartheid and fully stop supplying them the weapons they use to brutalize, terrorize, and kill their neighbors? It’s beyond disappointing ~ it’s shameful that…
