Black houses of Portland.

A curiously three-gabled house, circa 1910 style, with a bow window and a half porch, is painted black with an orange front door. The narrow frames of the replacement windows are unfortunately factory white, giving a rather stark contrast. There's a nice small shrubbery in front, and an American flag on the porch pillar.

An early 20th century house with gingerbread gable decoration, fish-scale shingles, a cutaway porch entrance--the whole Queen Anne or Victorian aesthetic--painted in bright mint green with emerald trim, and turquoise shingles. It stands in a promising young garden that will, by 2028, assuming we still have water, grow up to completely shroud the front of the house from nosy passersby like me.

The Rothko selected to reflect the weather in my location: bright yellow at the top, whitish in the center, blue at the bottom.

Streetview from 2021 has the lot cleared and fenced off, ready for demolition. Fencing gone by 2023. It's kind of a nice house. I wonder how it got chosen for demo. (But the new bldg looks pretty nice, too.)
