Brighton born Hove resident. Retired from Sussex Uni. Cat parent/servant. 😻 Keen knitter. 🧶
I usually do a blanket in honeycomb stitch. Though three at a time might be a bit much. Cardigans in 2nd size always seem popular depending on the season baby's due. For a winter baby a pram suit might be good.
Shawls week on #ShowMeYourKnits and a cooler day yesterday inspired me to start the 'May I Borrow This Please' shawl using the Malabrigo Rios 🧶 I bought while on holiday earlier this year. The pattern is interesting without being too difficult and it's looking good. www.ravelry.com/patterns/lib...
Three weeks ago we added a 4th to our gang. She's also very vocal but we're hoping that will ease off as she settles in.
I recently found the solution for knitting cardigans in self-patterning yarn. I'm a bottom up flat knitter and hated that pattern stripes on the back were half as deep as the fronts. I finally realised that using 2 balls in a 2 row stripe on the back matches the fronts perfectly! 🧶
Texture for #ShowMeYourKnits. An oddments 'Lollycake' shawl, a Fisherman's rib hat, a cabled baby sweater and a kid's sweater using my favourite broken rib stitch. Don't know what it's called but it's 1 row knit, 1 row purl, 2 rows 1x1 rib. Easy but squishy and warm.
It's 'What's on your needles' week on #ShowMeYourKnits. I have 7 WIPs on my needles but here are the ones I have pics of.
Nearly forgot this greenish blue shawl just finished. Ideal for this week's #ShowMeYourKnits 🧶
For the 100th #ShowMeYourKnits the theme is blue. Here are some of my favourites. If I ever work out how to hide faces I have more photos of lovely blue things I've knitted for my great-nephew 🙂
It's 'light and dark' for #ShowMeYourKnits this week. Almost all my knitting falls in the middle, but I managed to find one of each. 🧶
It's Worldwide Knit in Public Day 🧶 and that’s the theme for #ShowMeYourKnits. The only photos I have are from last summer. When hubby goes exploring I settle down with my knitting. A simple circular cowl is my go-to for travel knitting.
Tell me about it! Yesterday I wound the yarn from a 150g cake (I find it's easier to knit that way) and there were so many joins this is what I ended up with!
It's stripes week on #ShowMeYourKnits. My stripey things fall into two categories. I love a self-striping yarn (though sometimes they need tweaking to match).
We had a power cut here yesterday evening so I hurried to my stash to find something light and bright enough to knit by candlelight 😉 Knitting priorities! Started a toddler sweater with this. 🧶
This week #ShowMeYourKnits is blankets. There haven't been any new babies to knit blankets for recently so my only blankets are a couple of Christmas footstool blankets and charity knits using up scraps. To make them a bit more interesting I like to knit them diagonally.
Looking for yellow knits for #ShowMeYourKnits. Mostly only bits of yellow in multicoloured knits, but one pair of fingerless mitts in pure yellow 🧶
I like a 'shawlette' and it reminds me of this one I've knitted several times
Wanted a knitting project with a bit of interest for when we're away so cast this on yesterday. 400-500sts per row 😊 Wish me luck 🤞🧶
Stockinette for #ShowMeYourKnits this week. If I am knitting without texture I need colour, and usually it's for baby/kids garments. 🧶
It's purple for #ShowMeYourKnits so here's a real mix. A shawl in self patterning purple, a fisherman's rib hat from oddments, a shawl in Malabrigo Arroyo 🧶 that's since been recycled and a pair of leftovers bedsocks one of which has disappeared 😂
Today was perfect for a visit to @bluebellwalk.bsky.social Had a lovely short stroll through the woodland anemones and first bluebells.
This week #ShowMeYourKnits this week is colour work which I rarely do. I did some nice things about 40 years ago but no photos ☹️ Most of the colour in my knits is stripes or self patterning yarn 🧶 I've done a lot of honeycomb blankets and last year I did one patterned hat.
I didn't think I had much in green for this week's #ShowMeYourKnits but I found these. A baby blanket for a mum who asked for green, a peacock feather shawl in oddments, a greenish vest and a baby hat. Details in ALT 🧶
This week for #ShowMeYourKnits it's 'What’s on Your Needles; what are you excited about?' I'm currently knitting a 'sampler' sweater and a leftovers cardigan. Looking forward to visiting my favourite wool shop soon to buy 🧶 for my next project.
