I binged #TheAuditors (it didn’t disappear; look on Apple, Viki, Prime). I’m a sucker for workplace-competency dramas—bonus if they do *not* include romance. I came for #ShinHaKyun, playing the emotional opposite of his character in #FiftiesProfessionals. #JinGoo is A+ as the villain. #kdrama
Hey, Seattle! Vote! Especially vote for the library!! (Do it by tomorrow, which is Tuesday, if you lost track.)
Pic is metaphoric: my current life dilemma. I'm rebinding old books (my mom's). S/b easy; I used to do single "e" typo correx w/ xacto & wax. Alas, my essential tremor now interferes. The non drug fix: 0 caffeine. My treasured a.m. hours require *black as sin* tea. Hence, my mountainous dilemma.
Hey typography afficiandos. Is FIFA using the ugliest font since TF Spermo? Wonder what they paid the designer. Enough to offset shame by 2 expansion points?
I am here to advocate for #aboutlove. First, if you like romance, this isn’t it—instead, watch #loveBetweenLines or #TheBestThing. About Love focuses on issues related to ‘love’ that I haven’t seen in contemporary #cdrama stories (about which the MDL synopsis seems unaware). [long] 1/6
Compulsively read The Verifiers and The Rivals over the past 3 days, leaving me with 15 minutes of not knowing what next to do with my life, then flooded with a burning desire to write. Jane Pek is my new secret crush.
This guy is out here in early February (!) crying his heart out for female companionship. Alas, little guy, Seattle doesn't have that for you.
Watching #SwordsIntoPlowshares feels like when I took a 400-level biochem class without any 200-level chemistry (I had a crush on the microbiology prof*). I've read the PPT slides. I’m dedicated to doing the work. I can recognize the players (it was hard at first). But this #cdrama feels so fated.
A long-time friend left the world on Friday via medically-assisted suicide, after 2 years of cancer treatments with declining odds, from 4% to 0.1%. She chose to leave with sufficient faculties to experience her own death. I’m proud of her & grateful WA state passed such laws years ago. Tribute: 1/6
My neighborhood is preparing for siege, but it's just "overexcited fans" descending. Gates&guards in place, fire guys & gendarmes moving in. Don't know when the antisniper cop takes his place on our rooftop. And I forgot to buy breakfast food yesterday. Wish me luck as I venture onto the street.
At the end of no other year have I been so totally disinclined to read a year-end news review
Why isn't Kage Baker's The Company series in streaming production somewhere? Why isn't her name on more Best of SF Writers lists? And do not start me on Connie Willis...
watched a movie I thot my mutuals would love, but I'm so meh about it, that I'm juicing myself this morning by *not* replying online: no, you are wrong; it's not good. I suppose I should go write my own bad art instead of marinating in my superb ability to recognize others' not-that-good art.
If you stand by the window inside her new store while drinking and wearing a skirt, everyone on the street can look right up it.
Confession of long time Seattle resident: I can conjure no mental image of 'Downtown Federal Way.' Is it a real place? Suddenly it's a destination with lots of signage. I did help 4 visitors yesterday who got on Link going the wrong way when they wanted to go to the airport.
I’ve had a recent spate of queries from people (I think) who run book clubs/recommendation schemes. Each enthuses over a book I’ve written…then asks if I want to pay them to expose my book to readers. Each query praises a book that’s the *last* in a series (w/ no reference to series). 1/3
At 7/8 point in my draft, which means I am asking, 'what are you really trying to say in this ending?' while recognizing that I'm a different person from when I started. Passed the existential abyss, just waiting for crystalline clarity.
On light rail, I heard one teen explaining to another the psychological changes of characters in Wizard of Oz. Very meta. Then he focused specifically on the interplay between the scarecrow and the robot.
Looking at bios of creatives for #WhispersOfFate: who gathered this crew and gave them a massive budget? Like, hey, Huang Wei, please freak freely on costumes. And, Zeng Ming Hui, have Luo Yun Xi sit for 3 hours every day for makeup & hair. LBFD, Dw/inD, Mysterious Lotus Casebook guys: go wild.
A #cdrama discussion (not criticism). I'm trying to grasp #WhispersOfFate (thematically & artistically). In part, I can't decide yet whether it's subtly misogynist or just doesn't have a typical co-equal "female general" for other (pseudo BL) reasons. If you're watching, do you have an opinion?
November blustered its way in with the Pineapple Express, tho in modern times, they say "atmospheric river," like Andy Williams singing about misplaced nostalgia. The web app cautions a flood warning. & recommends an umbrella, but anyone from here knows not to carry a 20mph wind catcher.
