I’m the son of a refugee. Proud and privileged to be Nottingham Panthers ice hockey match announcer
Every evening when I go up the garden to water, this red admiral butterfly (I assume it’s the same one) appears and flies around me, occasionally landing close by. It’s wonderful 🥰🥰
Parsnips, leeks, runner beans, carrots and lettuce. Given the weather it’s been a struggle, but I’m pleased so far
First carrot of the year from my garden. The smell of a newly pulled carrot is wonderful 🥕 🥰
Blackcap singing away this morning at the top of a tree at Attenborough Nature Reserve . They have a lovely song 😊🥰
Got a pepper on my pepper plant 😎. A number of the lower leaves are showing the effects of a torrential hailstorm about a month ago, which damaged them quite badly, but it has recovered sufficiently to produce what is now quite a large green pepper. Hopefully more to come
I’m beginning to despair of what the future holds with these people in positions of influence
It still washes up in that part of the Baltic from where my mum originated. It was like a national symbol there. I was lucky enough to find some small pieces when I went there, but they’re not as good as the bits my mum found and brought with her when she was forced to leave in 1945
I was lucky enough to take part in this when it used to be held at Blenheim Palace. Race rules were that you had to wear a suit jacket, dress shirt and tie.
One thing about getting a massive infestation of black fly on your parsnips is the number of ladybirds it attracts 🙂. Better than spraying chemicals
