working on some weird character designs and im wondering if anyone has any ideas or references on how a creature with a mouth like this might emote. can't really smile or frown like a standard mouth can. #oc #characterdesign

a pink alien in a tank-top and baggy pants.
her head has multiple darker pink tendrils resembling spiky hair. or a sonic character.
there are dark markings on her neck and back, and the bottoms of said tendrils.
two drawings of her are present, on the left is her natural state, and on the right is her Pump Up! a more muscular form. while in Pump Up! her dark markings spread further around her body, covering more of her back and sides.

Panel 1: Tank looks off into the distance, thinking back to her home. She thinks to herself, "I've received many formal awards and honors in my life. Comes with the job. I had been trained to maintain composure during ceremonies."

Panel 2: Tank looks to the crowd, made up of all the friends she's made in Fherracanna. Bea, Keratonos, Eoin, Trisha, Thunder, Deandra, Diana, Mackenzie, Harpax, Doug. She thinks to herself, "But... Seeing that crowd from the stand. Everyone who cheered me on. Who kept me going. Who helped me find myself."

Panel 3: A closeup of Brenda's eye, as she begins to tear up. Seeing rows of people I've learned to call my friends...

Panel 4: "...I couldn't help myself." She allows herself to smile. To cry. Her face, burning red, with pride and joy.

Panel 1: Tank and Deandra face each other in the midst of the City of Fherracanna.

Panel 2: The hosts, Spada and Claymore, look down at their encounter, pondering. Claymore states "They've been still for quite some time." To which Spada replies simply "Aye..."

Panel 3: Tank speaks up, stating "I've been thinking about what you told me, Fencer."

Panel 4: Deandra replies with a grin, "Is that so? Have you come to a conclusion, then?"

Panel 5: The view turns to face Tank, as she closes her eyes and thinks aloud. "I've thought long and hard about what defines me beyond 'The Tank.' I can't quite put it all to words. So if you'll indulge me in a spar..."

Panel 6: Tank lunges towards Deandra, stating "I'll show you who I am!"

Panel 1: Tank swings upwards at Deandra, who dodges the attack. Deandra thinks to herself about things that describe Tank; "Daring..."

Panel 2: Tank raises her shield, anticipating a response from Deandra. "Patient..."

Panel 3: Deandra's blade changes from an épée to a sword. "CHANGE!" is seen in bold letters.

Panel 4: Deandra swings at the side of Tank's shield. "Resilient..."

Panel 5: Deandra swings into the side of the shield, knocking out of Tank's grasp. Tank appears shocked by this action.

Panel 3: Tank lunges forwards, stabbing at Deandra. Deandra narrowly avoids the attack with a jump.

Panel 4: Tank begins to lose her balance after her poorly executed lunge, as Deandra lands behind her.

Panel 5: Tank has fallen to the ground, as Deandra lowers her blade to Tank's head. Tank peers back nervously, sweat dripping down her face.

Panel 1: Tank leans down in shame after her loss, as Spada announces "I believe we've seen enough. Victory goes to Deandra!" Cheers are seen from the crowd.

Panel 2: Tank looks back to Deandra, stating somewhat pathetically "I... Work better with a group."

Panel 3: Deandra comforts Tank, stating "Don't fret, ma cherie. You put up an excellent fight."

Panel 4: Tank smiles, stating "Thank you... Dee-an-dra." Notably, this is the first time Tank has referred to anyone by name in the event.

Panel 5: Tank turns back to face Deandra, asking "So. What do you think I should be called?" Deandra turns her head to think, wondering aloud "Hmm, let's see..." In the background, from left to right, are Raven, Diana, Keratonos, Mirabelle, Dan, and Narwhalman.
To the bottom left of the panel is Tank's shield and the closing text: "Trial 3 -Complete-"

Panel 1: Tank looks at the massive log presented to her by a Golem and thinks "That's... A much larger log than I anticipated."

Panel 2: Tank thinks to herself with her hand to her chin. She thinks "I could request something smaller. Although..."

Panel 3: Tank looks around the forest at her fellow competitors, considering each one. Her thoughts are as follows:
Soffi - "The Armorer... Tall for an elf, and strong to boot. Not quite what I need though."
Eoin - "The Bog Knight... An enigmatic figure, doubt I'm worth her time here..."
Pado - "The Veteran... Experienced, but not especially strong... I think."
Blitz - "The Swift... Wrong skillset."
Bea - "The Bee... Not a competitor, but I've seen she's handy with a hammer."
Caliburn - "The Unbreakable... Strong. Maybe too strong. Potential for overshoot?"
Doug - "The Blademaster... ...He seems busy."
Golem - "...are we allowed to ask the Golems for help?"
Thunder - "The Thunderous... Bumbles with his blade, but is quite powerful otherwise... plus..."

Panel 4: Tank looks back to the immense log and begins to formulate a plan. A simple diagram is shown representing her thoughts - Thunder throws her into the air, Bea hits her with a hammer, sending Tank careening into the giant log, where she'll slice it to pieces. Tank thinks to herself "Hm. Perhaps..."

Panel 5: Having made up her mind, Tank turns towards Bea and Thunder, asking "Pardon me, Bee and Thunderous. If I may trouble you for a moment?"
Doug is seen attempting to speak with a Golem in the background, while Caliburn walks away from the interaction.

Panel 1: A shot of a Golem, Blitz, Spada, Elias, Eoin, and Pado, looking off to a peculiar sight. Tank can be heard speaking to Thunder offscreen, telling him "Remember to put some spin to it..." Thunder replies "Got it!" Spada mutters to himself "Well, I'll be..."

Panel 2: Thunder is seen looking up with a wide grin, asking "You ready?"

Panel 3: Tank's plan is in motion, as she's curled up in a ball being carried by Thunder. She thinks to herself "This was a great plan."

Panel 4: Thunder throws Tank as hard as he can, letting up a loud "HUP!" as Tank flies towards the top of the log.

Panel 5: Bea is seen floating high above the log with her honey hammer in hand, exclaiming "Here she comes!" as Tank hurtles towards her.

Panel 6: Bea raises her hammer high, preparing to swing.

Panel 7: Bea hits Tank downward, letting out a large THWACK, and sending Tank careening towards the enormous log at even greater speed.

Panel 2: Tank, still spinning (think like a Sonic spindash. or a buzzsaw.), begins slicing the log into pieces from the inside.

Panel 3: An abstract panel showing bright flashes beaming out from inside of the log as it's been sliced to bits.

Panel 4: a wide shot of the word CRUMBLE as shadows of the chopped logs are seen falling to the ground.

Panel 5: Tank jumps out from the remains of the giant log, now cut into usable firewood, and lands firmly on the ground - her face covered in splinters. Two Golems are seen behind the logs, both simply stating "WOOD"

Panel 1: Tank is seen holding her blade close, eyes closed as she introduces herself to the audience. she states, "Honorable hosts. I am The Tank of the Rivered Kingdom royal guard. You have gathered us here in search of The Greatest Blade across the realms. I have traveled far for a chance to prove myself. So I present to you..."
Panel 2-5: Abstract silhouetted panels of Tank slicing through a number of training dummies, the final one she slices in half from the top down - cutting through the panel itself in the process.
Panel 6: Looking to the audience in the arena seats and the starry night sky above, Tank raises her blade and smiles as she speaks once more. "My blade. Tailor-made for me as a reward for my exemplary military service. A perfect heavy weapon for a heavy warrior like myself. I am certain you'd be hard-pressed to find a better match of blade and wielder." the final dummy is seen sliced in half on the ground, cotton spilling out.
