Was just watching an old Scottish documentary short and I have to say, the acknowledgements in the end credits really take a turn at the end there
Another bumper update to the "books I've read this year" thread. First time reading Sunset Song since I was at school and because I'm not 14 anymore I actually enjoyed it.
Forgot all about the sunshine tonight by descending into the darkest depths with One Leg One Eye.
Had a double helping of theatre in Edinburgh today with The Hen Night and Revolution Days. Time well spent.
Cheery start to the weekend. Decided to have a double bill in the cinema tonight as part of the "Bleak Week" screenings. I guess this will make the Scotland Morocco game later tonight seem more upbeat by comparison.
Utterly incomprehensible headline from the Glasgow Times here... and yes, the article itself also continues to make reference to people "dawning" Scotland strips. And "at a rain start" is how absolutely nobody would phrase this.
Was at the theatre again last night and tonight, and a quality time was had, I can tell you.
East Kilbride, 1969. Only just noticed this guy in the background of a photo taken at a family wedding. As far as I know he's not a relative. It is now my life's mission to track down his film footage, despite it probably being in landfill long ago. Any leads, please do shout.
I bought my first footy top in about 20 years recently, because my team launched a third kit based on the cover of the Skids' debut album, which was too cool to resist. (Also a tiny bit of the proceeds went to charity so that eases the conscience too)
Went to see 2001: A Space Odyssey at the cinema again earlier (70mm, whoop whoop). I love the bit when Poole questions the integrity of the HAL-9000 series, and so HAL responds by calling him a CNT.
Another "books I've read this year" update. The Scottish bias continues, and this one was excellent.
Happy 80th birthday to one of Scotland's greatest actors, Brian Cox. Not only is he currently the 6th most watched actor of all time in my Letterboxd stats (tied on 38 films with Vincent Price at the moment), he also has the very rare distinction of appearing in TWO films that I watch every year.
I note that BMO Field will be hosting World Cup games this year, which makes it the fourth stadium I've been to which has hosted World Cup matches. That isn't much, but it's not a bad effort for someone who never goes to international games and rarely has to worry about European qualification.
Any action fans thinking of going to see Telugu film Peddi next week, I wouldn't bother. The 12A certificate BS strikes again.
Opted for the 4CD edition rather than shelling out £200 for the vinyl box. Five hours of slowly decaying tape loops, here we go!
