Thursdahlia! Not quite all the way open but I could not resist sharing this new addition to my garden: RM Illusion. The backs of the petals are a totally different color from the front. Just stunning, especially in this morning’s cloudy light.

A bloom from a RM Illusion dahlia, a new formal decorative variety from River Merle Farms. The fronts of the petals are a coral color while the backs are kind of pinky-lavender. It’s not quite all the way open so the center is still a bit green.

GUESS WHAT TIME IT IS

Three intensely red dahlias are in a small black and white vase. I do not know the variety, unfortunately

A large purple dahlia with white tips is in a blue and white striped vase. I figured out the variety of this one at one point and then promptly forgot it again.

Not a dahlia, but my oak leaf hydrangea is just getting going and looked so lovely in the evening light yesterday.

An oak leaf hydrangea bloom. It is a large spike of green buds with a few opening to pretty white flowers. Eventually it will be all white.

I challenge you to watch a group of combined middle school and high school choirs absolutely killing it on an arrangement of “Crowded Table” by The Highwomen and not get a little weepy.

Look I love baseball but this is bananas. Three different streaming services for three games, ON OPENING WEEKEND. WTF. I love baseball on the radio but I would like to occasionally be able to see a game with my eyeballs.
