Note that the report uses a conservative definition of "misuse" ie going against manufacturers' guidlines, attacking journalists, healath workers or children. Whereas we would say that any use of these weapons to defend ICE concentration camps or the genocide in Gaza is "misuse".
“This is not about mass surveillance,” says WA Police Commissioner Col Blanch of the for live facial recognition, randomly scanning people in public places to match them against a watchlist. We shudder to think what would meet Blanch's threshold for mass surveillance.
Charlotte from Watch the Cops rocking our bag at the Waterloo camp! The NSW Government wants to demolish public housing in Waterloo and replace it with largely private and "social" housing. There are still people living there and they need support.
After repeated delays, the Independent Cultural Review into NSW Police Force has just been released, and it's damning. Bullying, harrasment, assault, and discrimination are widespread.
This piece from The Guardian does a great job outlining some of the new weapons Australian police are using against protesters. But don't worry, we have guides to most of these weapons at our website in our bio.
If you don’t clean up dog poo in NSW you will be fined, but police horses leave poo all over the street without consequence. When challenged on this, the NSW Police claimed that members of the public actually like it, because they collect the manure for gardening.

Eventually he figured out we were baiting him into revealing information about himself, and he went quiet. Is he a real cop threatening us, or is he imitating one and committing a crime? This may not be his real name, and the pictures are low resolution. Does anyone recognise him, or this beach?
Help us find Darren Woodward! This guy messaged us claiming to be a "senior police detective" said "I can find you", and threatened us with hate speech laws as though cops are a marginalised group.
Headlines like this, which shift the blame away from police driving recklessly, are written in the "present exonerative tense"

This isn't an isolated incident. Policing attracts violent men, and reinforces that behaviour at home and even with other cops. They have unique access to surveilance that enables harassment of victims, and a culture of protecting abusive "mates".
Tasers are often framed as a safe or preventative tool in police responses to crisis. In situations involving flammable substances, they can instead escalate risk with fatal consequences.
The NSW Police Public Affairs Branch employs 89 people with your money, but those jobs are under threat if they cut corners with AI. Justice for police propagandists!
While Minns is trying to criminalise pro-Palestinian slogans, the cops let genuine anti-semitism slide. Minns won't even release the review of racial vilification laws that his own government commissioned - we're guessing because it doesn't support his pro-Israel agenda.
We're heading to Nimbin MardiGrass! On May 1 every year, thousands of people converge to celebrate cannabis culture and campaign for law reform. www.paypal.com/ncp/payment/...
Chris Minns's goons are still harrassing people weeks after the police riot in Sydney on February 9. No cops have faced any consequences for their violence, but as the police media release notes, 16 more anti-genocide protesters have been charged since the initial round.
I've found my original account in Honi Soit, plus the cover featuring the moment before he moved his hand down to my throat. The shirt says "Peter Kropotkin" lol.
Protesters chanted "all cops are bastards", so the police falesly claimed they were part of the "ACAB Gang" which is as dangerous as the Hell's Angels, Crips or Bloods.
Unauthorised interception of phone or internet activity can result in a prison sentence if you're a civilian. But don't hold your breath waiting for these cops to face consequences.
