I hate the fact that on this big 4th of July coming up, I'm going to be somewhere between angsty and miserable about the state of our republic thanks to my fellow citizens who returned a criminal to power and our elected representatives who refuse to hold him to account.
We've made art for as long as we have been human. We make art in every place that humans live. We make art from the moment we can control our hands and minds. And yet we insult and mock those who care about it, who take it seriously, who love to make it, who aren't ashamed to be moved by it. Why?

Men wore suits to play pool. Men wore suits to go sit in bleachers at baseball games. It's just how grown men dressed for things other than sports or physical labor. I'm not saying right or wrong, better or worse, but...men did not dress like boys. There was a transition, and they did not go back.
It's not enough that he gropes and takes and uses and squanders and dismisses; he wants us all to be grateful for it, too.
