Share your ideas and experiences for multimodal improvements in Rosslyn. Please help fix my neighborhood! 😅 Today (8/2) is the last day to complete this survey about Rosslyn transportation projects for N Lynn St, Fort Myer Dr, and Wilson Blvd. 🔗 publicinput.com/t04067
Rumble strips for bike lanes instead of traffic lanes 🙃 📍 Clarendon Blvd approaching N Troy St and N Scott St
A fresh concrete sidewalk and replacement bus shelter at the 2425 Wilson Blvd site 🙌 The bus stop at Wilson Blvd & N Barton St (6000652) reopens today (7/27) and will serve the ART 41, 56, 77 + Metrobus A58 routes 🚏
The Mount Vernon Trail detour for the Long Bridge Project is really nice! Location is just north of Gravelly Point ✈️
Amazing what happens when you provide alternatives to driving!
Your homework while avoiding the awful air quality outside is to review all 104 pages of the draft Multimodal Transportation Plan 🙃 Feedback will be collected through 8/23. www.arlingtonva.us/Government/P...
12th St S is looking great 🤩 This is part of Phase 2 of the Crystal City Potomac Yard Transitway extension to Pentagon City. More info here: www.arlingtonva.us/Government/P...
It's nice to have the Rosslyn bus tunnel open again following a two-month construction project at Central Place Tower 🚍
And a couple of sidewalk updates: 👷 Fresh concrete sidewalks have appeared at the 2425 Wilson Blvd building renovation site 🙌 A tripping hazard reported years ago at 2690 Clarendon Blvd was recently fixed
Some development updates from this week: 🏗️ Red Lion Inn (1501 Arlington Blvd) construction continues www.arlingtonva.us/Government/P... 💣 Clarendon Square (3033 Wilson Blvd) demolition is well underway www.arlingtonva.us/Government/P...
We can once again enjoy an unobstructed cycle track on Fort Myer Drive in Rosslyn 🙌
This is now 13 months into what was originally scheduled to be an 8-month project by the property owner at 2425 Wilson Blvd. I have opened multiple tickets for MOT issues here during that time. Recently, the bike lane closure warning was removed despite the bike lane looking like this:
Hopefully the County Board will follow the County Manager's recommendation and reject this farcical historical designation bid. Melwood site info: www.arlingtonva.us/Government/P...
Not sure how new it is but bikes generally have the same rights as pedestrians at crosswalks in Virginia law.lis.virginia.gov/vacode/title...
This week's driver education refresher for no particular reason 😶
I should be getting some answers from the county about this soon
I hope the victim can make a full recovery 😔. The driver has apparently been cited. #VisionZero N Quincy St context: 🚑 Corridor is part of the High Injury Network 🚸 20 MPH school zone 🚧 Quick-build project here in 2024 🚲 A driver was cited in similar 2024 crash at nearby intersection w/ 13th St N
Your weekend homework that is due tomorrow (5/17) ✍️ 1. NVTA Six-Year Program comments: thenovaauthority.org/funding/fund... 💵 Several Arlington projects are being considered for funding 2. Neighborhood Complete Streets feedback: publicinput.com/w81483 🚶 Four projects that improve/add sidewalks
There is *some* traffic and parking enforcement along this stretch of N Moore St but it is not consistent enough to change driver behavior.
N Moore St was once again at a standstill during the morning rush today. Regularly having only the bus lane passable while buses from six different routes are making stops at the bus bays is not great 😔
Bike to Work Day is one week away! 🚲 Arlington pit stop locations include Rosslyn, Ballston, Crystal City, and Columbia Pike. Registration info here: www.biketoworkmetrodc.org
What is going on here? I'm thinking the hotel rather than the county installed these nonsensical signs. The cycle track is crossing a driveway, not a crosswalk. If the message is intended for drivers, the signs would be oriented the other direction and placed outside the cycle track.
To prevent similar tragedies, my recommendation is to separate the turning and crossing signal phases by converting the right lane of the Ft Myer Dr approach to right turn only. Squaring the intersection skew could slightly improve safety but does not eliminate what is a dangerous conflict. (7/7)
The shared-use path where the incident occurred connects to the first segment of the Fort Myer two-way cycle track. This corridor will eventually provide convenient connections between the Key Bridge, Custis Trail, Gateway Park, and the rest of the Rosslyn bike network. (6/7)
The 1900 Ft Myer Drive, 1901 N Moore St, 1901 & 1911 Ft Myer Drive, and 1401 Langston Blvd sites are delivering a total of ~3,500 homes adjacent to Gateway Park. This combined with the renovation of the park means a lot more people using all modes will frequent this area in the future. (5/7)
