It’s coming together! Only a couple slight hand edits needed to happen. Nothing obviously wrong yet.
Getting started on the leather jackal hood that someone ordered while I was out of town last week. Hopefully the tweaks I made to the design worked and it comes together without issues.
A couple scale bracelets from the archives. Stainless steel for two of them, and the last one is pan pride flag colors in anodized aluminum.
I've spent 3 hours moving 2 rivets 1/8 of an inch. Did this all because I'd left myself some "helpful" notes for improvement last time I assembled this design. If this doesn't fix the issue I will scream.
Wolf skull muzzle mask! This one was bought by a local friend last year (not shown here, this is a different friend), and it’s become such a part of them that I almost can’t think of this design as anything other than their face. Integrated into their fursona and everything. Truly an honor.
Doing a round-up of a bunch of my small mask designs. A lot of these are some of my earliest designs from when I was just starting with leather, but I keep making them because I still think they're fun. (These are the winners from that era, I've let a bunch of designs fade into retirement.)
Black codpiece with rows of metal spikes. When I originally added all these spikes to this design, I thought it would just be ridiculous and funny. But people have seemed to really like it! So next I gotta figure out how to put even more and bigger spikes in somehow.
Custom lined collar with a lunar phase design. This one was made for someone I used to help run a minecraft server with, and sadly that group of people fell apart under unfortunate circumstances shortly after I made it. But, it's still nice, and I'm still proud of it.
Pup muzzle in a fun custom colorway of green, gold, and brown, with brass hardware. I've been really liking color combos like this recently, they remind me of like, a fancy old lodge with a big fireplace, or a Victorian library. Steampunk but calmed down a bit.
Green and black dragon muzzle mask, that I shipped out this last week! This green is sometimes a bit finicky to get the color I want, and it may have ended up a bit on the dark side here. In bright lighting it’s got a nice depth to the color, but when it’s dim it can fade into shadows a bit.
Actually wait no I lied just then, this simple mask is my most-sold item lately, because it’s set up to work with glasses. And almost nobody else makes masks that do that. They’re quick to make, I’ve just made so many of them this last year or so that I barely even think to photograph them anymore.
Two leather codpieces from a while back. We got a fig leaf design with a brown dyed base, and my paladin design in a black smooth-finished leather that I been really liking for these sorts of pieces. It's odd to explain to the family, but codpieces are probably my best selling products on Etsy.
This design isn't for sale again yet, I need to do some annoying edits to it before making another one. The thickness of the leather caused me problems at the nose, where I didn't make the canine nose enough smaller to fit comfortably at the tip of the muzzle, so it took some finagling.
Bad dog. Made this canine muzzle wearing a muzzle for ANE this last January. I wanted the snout vs the muzzle to be very distinct, so went for hand stitching on the canine parts, then rivets and tabs on the "metal" part. I think the industrial look turned out pretty well!
An accidentally-coordinating pair of leather collars from this spring. A lined collar with a white base layer and an art deco pattern on the top strap; and a simple black collar with chunky metal spikes. I quite like how well the white pops against the black.
Go, Blue Muzzle White Dragon! Dragon muzzle mask with a custom blue and white coloration. The customer's character had a very fun musical theme to the markings and a really pretty gradient. I was pretty happy with the ivory white and light blue paints I mixed up to try and do it justice.
A rainbow stack of bracelets I made during Pride month. I do love these big sets, they're very fun to wear. These ones use colored anodized aluminum and black EPDM rubber rings, so they stretch over your hand.
Canine muzzle in a custom set of colors. We got pink below, then magenta/rose, purple, and black on the top. Got this made back in May.
Doing some work on a local pup’s hood. The original hood (by someone else, don’t actually know who/where from) had a bit of a piggish nose, so started by swapping for one of mine. Then I’m customizing it with appliqué patterns to look like melting ice cream. Neapolitan puppy!
Done with the mane! Also finished assembly of the mask but I forgot to take photos of that part.
Made good progress on the mane tonight! Gotta stop now though cuz it’s too late to keep hammering on the floor in my apartment building.
Decided with the commissioner on a pattern for the blaze on the front of the face, and got some pointers from a painter friend on how to do the gradient on the nose. Very happy with how it turned out.
Not black enough. Gave them a second coat of dye. (This dye tends to penetrate into the leather pretty hard, so the surface ends up being less saturated than you'd expect once it dries.)
Last day at #ANE, swing by the dealers den to check out my leather and chainmail!
