Watching the score tick over while eating my lunch like 😬 #Middlesex 🏏
Second fig of the year from my tree and it’s still only July!
Cheers with beers! The Oracle has had a domestic day after hosting counterparts from The Other Place for Bowls and Dinner yesterday. I’m looking forward to some trashy tv later and will probably fall asleep on the sofa… #ConfinedCocktails
Sitting down at last. Shattered, in a good way #FestivalOfArchaeology. But please, tell me not to drink buckets of caffeinated coffee, there’s a reason I don’t usually and I’m feeling it now! Beer and snacks before supper Zoom with The Oracle, which for me will be a light salad.
What has the past been like? What is your present like? What future do you want to live in? I’d like a future in which we can safely take kids on trips in less than 30 degrees heat to fascinating places where they can imagine other people, other lives and dream of their own futures. 6/6
What’s more, this year’s Festival theme, Nature, is an encouragement to think about ourselves in the future. Archaeology helps us do that, whether it’s data for decision-making about tree-planting or reflecting on our place in the world. Visit Butser and open your eyes to other ways of life! 5/n
Thank you so much to everyone at Butser, @butserancientfarm.co.uk is a wonderful place to visit, a jewel in archaeology’s crown and in the @southdownsnp.bsky.social. 3/n
Right. Today is the start of the 2026 #FestivalOfArchaeology brought to you by @archaeologyuk.bsky.social and hundreds of archaeologists, museums and volunteers around the country. So why am I sitting in a service station café with a bucket of coffee? 1/n
A man and a woman who haven’t seen one another for 8 years meet up and get married.
A whole chapter describing a bird-watching session in which an enthusiastic kid gets to see the specific species they wanted to spot. Brilliant.
Home from watching our first XI lose by 130 runs. Now watching the test highlights, could my day get any ‘better’? #ConfinedCocktails
Lots of playing and missing against him. This is how it’s going…
Arrived at the match between our first XI playing at home against Corsham and it’s going, err, well it’s going.
Thank you @manderleypress.bsky.social arrived safely with a fabulous selection of bookmarks!
The Abbey looking good in the dusk, and I watched two peregrines chasing one another around the pinnacles.
Lovely evening swim! Enjoying a cuppa before I head home.
Cheers! I started early and am already eating (pie and broccoli) because of late night swim in the open air pool tonight. 0% Ghost Ship and snacks from about half an hour ago #ConfinedCocktails
These, amongst many others, spotted on Inys Mon with @earthworkbec.bsky.social earlier this year.
I’ve had this hat for years and years, wear it loads and must get around to some sort of repair to the crown. I’ve got a lovely old soft white pillow slip to cannabalise. Wish me luck!
Cheers from Zoom supper with The Oracle! Who has has a super-hot week in full academicals, it being that time of year…
Listening to the ENG NZ T20 on the wireless, with the attest highlights on the tv (sound off). Good day visiting Open Gardens around the village with a friend, and ringing a quarter peal, but a bit frazzled now… #ConfinedCocktails
oh my life it’s actually _pleasant_ sitting in the shade with a slight breeze outside the boundary rope, whiling away the time before bellringing practice!
Out of sausages again at the Cricket Club Friday evening BBQ.
Thank you Parochial Church Council for giving me the WiFi password.
