My trifecta of mom cinema has shaped up to include One True Thing, In the Gloaming, and The Deep End of the Ocean One True Thing is some of Carl Franklin’s best work and I wish he did melodrama more often—the film is fantastic with one of Renée Zellweger’s best performances
