Where you think you should be and where you need to be are not the same thing. Both are and can be completely two different ideas and Cotterpin had to learn that what she needed and what she had been wanting were in the same path but two completely different things one being unrealistic.

But also came to realize over time that things would work out in the way they needed, and the world decided she just had to learn for herself. If that all makes sense. It’s good to have control of your life, but you have to let things go where they need to not where you think they should.

If it’s different go out and see what you can do to get it. Have faith in the things you like and think you never know what might come of it because you can create changes you want to see. She wanted change in her life, she wanted to take control of its direction, not others taking control of it.

But it’s also about knowing what’s right for you. You can’t live a life style that doesn’t fit you or your needs, it just simply isn’t possible. Can’t be something you aren’t changes don’t come around because you follow everyone else or because they tell you. You can choose what you want.

This is episode is special in a lot of ways, the first episode in the series to focus on the doozers, one of the rare episodes Jim Henson directed, and its story is very personal. It’s a complicated story on so many levels. It’s about following your own dream even if everyone thinks you’re nuts.

He’s such a good character because of how adaptable he is and the fact he never changes helps this fact. He’s such a fun character that works so well with the rest of the cast bringing out some great stories. The series comic relief if you will. It’s entertaining to see this ego get him in trouble.

This is only further expanded with him and Gordon, this top link express engine who views James as a pest, comparing that to James, this medium mixed traffic goods engine with a huge ego with a very high opinion about himself who therefore sees himself as an equal only to get knocked down a few pegs

I appreciate that the show took a step further to see what makes him tick. Because really there’s a lot to him, he’s insecure about his size, his status, so he tries to act all big so he can fit in with the big engines, in fact it’s quite comical as it seems the other two only tolerate him.

While working on comms all I could think about is James. Yeah James, red locomotive, the one from the Thomas franchise. Why him? Because the concept of James is so funny to me, this showboating egotistical jackass with a napoleon complex basically, with a very high opinion of himself, always fails.
