I must say, I don't understand how a team with Mark McGwire, WIllie Mays, and Babe Ruth, with a team OPS of .964 and a team ERA of 2.02, wins only 97 games.
Here he seems to be saying that if there's inter-party racial polarization, then intentional racial gerrymandering is OK, because it's actually partisan. Basically, any constitutional defect can be cured by saying it's motivated by partisanship.
Alito is stacking the deck against plaintiffs so much ... "legitimate districting objectives" are so innumerable and fuzzy that you'll never be able to prove that any map meets all of them.
Here, his idea seems to be that if you use a computer to redistrict, and you don't explicitly code "use race" into the computer, then it can't have been motivated by race. This is just an "it's a computer so it's objective" sheen on allowing, e.g., a grandfather clause.

TBH I think a big part of this is that Katrina didn't actually massively hurt Bush's approval rating. Look at this chart, if you didn't already know or look it up, when was Katrina?
Also they think they have the upper hand because of willingness to use violence, but most people are capable of being violent when they have to be. People who use violence in normal times just want to dominate others, won't work out that way in a fair fight.
Can we talk about this from Kagan? In attacking the concurrence for conjuring the term "near-dispositive" into a precedent, she goes on a tangent to cite that the word only appears in 3 SCOTUS decisions, and cites as an example... Scalia saying stare decisis is "near-dispositive"!

For some reason this picture specifically strikes me as intentionally pushing a fascist vibe. In the future people will see it like they see people doing Nazi salutes ... how can they not tell they're the bad guys?

Look at the map of the Senate resulting from the 2000 elections. Among other things, the Dakotas sent four Democrats to the Senate, and NH/ME sent four Republicans!
