Getting ready to be weird in the woods for a week. Teaching three art classes, playing trumpet in a Motown band and living in a fancy tent. I’m taking my Big Aunt Energy to Cazadero Performing Arts Family Camp!
I may have forgotten to practice my music for Motown class at camp... that starts tomorrow. Just encountered these notes, which even when I was studying the trumpet I never ever played. Is this even possible???? 25 year hiatus from playing and there's only a first trumpet part.
Taught a beginner hand sewing workshop at the Almaden Library in San Jose. Shared the room with the Silicon Valley Repair Cafe. It was all about keeping textiles out of the waste cycle. repaircafesv.org
Three cicada exoskeletons in the styles of Kenny Sharf, Keith Haring and Yayoi Kusama. Inspired by visiting @crystalbridges.bsky.social with my sister and niece.
But would I be able to resist the ridiculous amount of money and exposure Walmart was able to give her? I’m not gonna pretend my answer is yes. It’s a fabulous exhibit, just ENORMOUS and she has the space for a whole year.
It’s a big yeesh. But I am staying in a house with this on the front porch. It’s a short trip and I have not been trained in deprogramming.
this is where I am setting my mind today. Back in the early 90s with Christian Riese Lassen. Gimme 90s whales.

I don’t know why I can’t not make this face. It’s the face of utter awe at the silly luck of life.
Teaching inflatables a few weeks ago at the California Sculptors Symposium. I gotta figure out how to do this workshop again. My deal is presenting weird crafts in the most entry-level way possible. Hire me to teach your people 3D design wackiness!
A portrait my mom commissioned from a local artist known for painting figures with NO FACES. This is unfinished because the artist had a slight breakdown working with my mom as a client.

Yesterday I was at the thrift shop with Tricia looking for merino wool and cool CDs and got to talking to some people searching through the music. We were having some laughs over the prevalence of second-hand Kenny G.
Beautiful LOST CAT sign found on our walk. Moisture got inside the laminate and made a rainbow aura around the cat. Reward: $1000.
Are you interested in learning several sculptural techniques in a week of lovely people, with ocean sunsets and a camp atmosphere? California Sculptors Symposium is April 12-19 in Cambria, CA. I'm teaching inflatable sculpture there!
Now I have the best image to send to let someone know I’m on the plane.
I don’t know why I thought “model falling out of the sky” was going to move units, but I love these photos.
Outtake from a fashion photo shoot where I had maybe too much leeway.
