The Akata Witch cover is made to look more European. It's an erasure that is truly maddening. The covers are all on her website. There was no reason for this.
Revisiting Lucky Daye's "Painted" album on a proper speaker system instead of headphones... He's so underrated.
Bending Spoons has acquired Harvest. I haven't used the product in a while, but I can't believe how many companies they've hoovered up over the last few years (Meetup, Eventbrite, Vimeo, etc.).

I've been listening to synth or vaporwave while coding. Feels like a brain massage. ☺️ Then I remembered that gaming soundtracks are often designed for focus, especially the instrumental ones. I really like Disasterpeace's remix albums for Fez, and Lifeformed + Janice Kwan's album for Tunic. 💜
Learning Herbie Hancock produced or inspired some of my favorite city pop jams (from Japan) was a really fun YouTube rabbit hole. I need this on vinyl/CD!

I lifted weights and did some spinning today. I feel so mellow that I saw this little guy and didn't freak out. Kinda cute. He just rested for a bit and watched me cautiously. (Labeled it Graphic because some folks don't like spiders, but maybe there's a more specific labeler than the default?)

Grew up in Jamaica, Queens... lotsa block parties all nights of the week. Couldn't sleep. So when I wasn't bunkered under the covers with a flashlight and a book, this album was on. I know it was released in 1984, but it was in rotation for most of my childhood! I wore that cassette OUT.
Watched a lot of horror movies with the fam growing up. Freddy movies were comedy. We'd just laugh at the stupid decisions the protagonists would make.
Mental health is in the dumps so I took a walk today with my babe. The cherry blossoms are so beautiful! 🌸 Also met a kind stranger who told us about all the trails to see the local wildlife, everything from heron to beavers and foxes. Mood majorly improved!
They wrote the hell out of this Season 7 intro for Marvel Rivals. "Well, with love, determination, and a little luck, anyone can become the heart of their city." Message!
People are zooming in on Karp's Blackness because it sensationalizes him, but his being biracial, Black AND Jewish, is important context. Mixed babies will not save the world simply by being born. Children born of fetishization are objectified and that harm gets passed to everybody else eventually.
