Poland is classy and restrained - nor a silly graphic in sight this year! Alicja looks and sounds like goddamned Beyonce and feels like a Popstar (capital P). A classic case of staging giving some direction to a rather meandering song - I thoroughly enjoyed this. #eurovision2026
San Marino is HIGH CAMP. Senhit starts in a sparkly mirrored corridor prop. She gets lifted in the air at the second chorus without missing a heat. The Boy George reveal sent me to space. I'm obsessed. ALL THE BOYS IN THE BAR ETC!!!! #eurovision2026
Lithuania looks like a more cinematic version of what we saw at the national final. Lion's hands aren't painted silver today. We get subtitles for some lines. The potential here has been maximised - Europe might not get it, but I've got goosebumps! #eurovision2026
Belgium has an AWESOME first shot - Elyssa starts on the catwalk with a wind machine, and stomps up to the stage. This is the best performance I've seen from her - she's found some rizz! However, it does feel like the staging runs out of ideas halfway through. #eurovision2026
Germany starts with a softer piano opening than that we are used to. There's a dress reveal at the first chorus, and Sarah later does a trust fall off her square platform. Dance break looks slicker than at the NF. As you'd expect, pyro budget is generous! #eurovision2026
Israel starts in the diamond prop we have seen various photos of. The choreography from Noah's dancers is very active, and gives the performance a sense of movement. The diamond feels a little out of place after its initial usage. #eurovision2026
Estonia is fun - the girls look comfortable onstage, and there's some nice harmonies as we move through the song. The "put your hands in the air" moment works well. We get a bit of pyro right at the end which works nicely! Might still be too epic to get through. #eurovision2026
Montenegro's camera shots are much tighter than before - I was worried it would look empty, but it doesn't for the most part. The first dance break looks GREAT! Tamara's costume still makes her look like an angry frill necked lizard. Solid overall. #eurovision2026
Finland - you've seen this already, but it still EATS IT UP! You can't really tell that Linda's playing live from the sound, but she *looks* like she's giving 120% now rather than just 100%. Pete's vocals on the last screech are cleaner than before. AMAZING! #eurovision2026
Italy is delivering silent-film style physical comedy, as our groom behind Sal flails around trying to get ready for his wedding. There was a mishap when our bride tripped getting out of her dress. Sal looks like the suavest wedding singer of all time. Cute af! #eurovision2026
Georgia have their choreography down, and the vocals sound good. The graphics on the back screen with cyborg Bzikebi are a bit uncanny valley for me. This isn't a bad three minutes, but it is probably my least favourite of what we've seen so far unfortunately. #eurovision2026
Portugal is bringing back Salvador Sobral's maxim of "less is more" - we open with the boys spotlighted, and we then get a graphic that looks a little like a B&W version of Jamala's tree projected on the floor. The vocals sound SAUR good. Portuguese class. #eurovision2026
Greece is doing staging MAGIC here - we have mirrors wheeled out for 10 seconds, a man being played like a traditional greek instrument, an INSANE cycling set of rooms (think Reiley 2023 on steroids), and a fireman's pole. This can win - take it seriously. #eurovision2026
Croatia is instantly arresting - one of the girls starts off suspended in the air like a street entertainer. Vocals sound crisp and clear compared to the national final, and the choreography is polished. The last minute goes HARD on the pyro. This is looking extremely good! #eurovision2026
Sweden is as expected for the most part - but with a package this good, are we surprised? The backing dancers have acquired Matrix trenchcoats, and there's a great shot of Felicia moving a laser around with her hands as expected. The bass HITS in the arena - LOVE IT!
Moldova is a burst of energy onstage. It's hard to tell without hearing the final sound mix, but the vocals work better in the arena than in the rehearsal clips. There's a callback to Aliona Moon's 2013 entry when she appears in a huge dress. Crowd loved it! #eurovision2026
Aussievision is in the Wiener Stadthalle for the first dress rehearsal of #eurovision2026's first semifinal, and we can't wait to share our impressions of the show with you! Follow our commentary in this thread throughout the afternoon - and of course, SPOILERS ahead!
