In full bloom…

On a single long stem (that grows faraway from the mother Venus Fly Trap so that pollinating insects aren’t lured to their deaths before they finish their job) sit four flower heads. Each is about the size of my thumbnail and has 5 heart-shaped petals. The centre of the white flowers have long stamens turning from pale green to white, and tipped with a cream coloured head. There is not a strong scent from these flowers.

Have a little bunny break :)

Chive Bunny is a very pretty rabbit, mostly white with brown patches on her nose, eyes, ears and back (like a saddle). Here she sits on a burgundy, green abs old cold tartan rug, with cream narrow corduroy pillows behind her. She is sitting on her haunches, front legs upright and pointing straight at the camera, but with her head tilted to her right, so only one beautiful brown eye gazes at the camera. Her ears are relaxed back, only one in frame at this angle.

Chive Bunny is a very pretty rabbit, mostly white with brown patches on her nose, eyes, ears and back (like a saddle). Here she sits on a burgundy, green and Old Gold tartan rug, with cream narrow corduroy pillows behind her. She is sitting back on her haunches, front legs upright and face pointing straight at the camera: because her long ears are relaxed back, in this pic from this angle they are not really visible and she resembles a giant guinea pig!

Check out Pernaton - you can still take pain killers with it but it’s great for joint pain relief (though pal with advanced osteoarthritis said it’s mostly like a pleasant distraction than actual relief, but for earlier stages, it is good). Hope there is a path for you to feeling better. X

I love when this happens - a Venus Fly Trap flower. I always keep a fly eater amongst my herbs, cos they attract fruit flies and this way both I and another plant are happy with that circumstance.

A small Venus Fly Trap (plant that has sticky, fringed leaves, which close on flies and absorb its nutrients) in a pink pot, sitting amongst pot herbs (basil, parsley, rosemary (just a little bit) and thyme), with a long stem emerging from its middle. The pic is deliberately askew to include both the lowered leaf of the plant and follow the stem to where it looks like it’s growing from the parsley. The flower is pretty, delicate. white petals with sticky-up cream coloured stamens. It grows so far away from its mother because the plant needs the pollinator to survive, to fly into another flower, not gather its load and then be eaten.

A Venus Fly Trap flower perched atop a slender stem, so far from its mother plant that it seems to be floating. 4 petals in white, each heart shaped, with a cluster of stamens poking up from the middle moving from a pale green centre to buttermilk at top. Just behind it, buds for 2 additional flowers, so that they will cluster together. The flower is about the size of my thumbnail.

I’ve seen an image that is SO cursed, it must be AI, but a business with a budget made it (for a good cause, so I don’t want to harsh the mellow) BUT IT NAUSEATES ME & MAKES ME WANT TO CRY (which usually means AI) - to not dox, here are two corners: tell me no human designed this!

Acidy blues, greens, oranges and yellows with white highlights make a track of sunbeams on it. A diverse group of cartoon silhouettes walk towards the source of light.

These were lo res to begin with, taken by phone out the kitchen window last Spring, determined not to disturb the mating dance of the pigeons - the shapes are still remarkable though.

The decline in Ireland's technology workforce has disproportionately hit women, with Al disruption, Donald Trump's anti-diversity push and re-turn-to-office mandates weighing unevenly on workers across the gender divide.
The ESRI revealed in its recently published quarterly economic commentary that the fall in the number of technology workers in Ireland was concentrated almost entirely among female workers in the sector.
Male emplovment in the sector had
remained largely constant.
The number of female workers in tech sector hit 49,600 at the end of last year on a seasonally adjusted basis, down from 66,100 at the beginning, according to figures provided to the Sunday Independent by the ESRI During the same period, the number of men fell by only around 1,000, to 122,100.
Ciara O'Buachalla, an Al governance manager at a global tech company and volunteer member of the Women in Digital Forum, said a recent International Labour Organisation (ILO) briefing found

as business administration and clerical support, were almost twice as likely to be exposed to Generative Al as male-dominated ones.
Other issues also faced by women, according to the brief, include those related to culture and flexibility.
"Despite a growing number of women earning STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) degrees, a 5.9pc decline in retention of women in STEM was observed just one year after graduating." she said.
"The ILO attributes this to structural barriers including discriminatory workplace norms, inflexible working hours, lack of leadership opportunities, and the unequal distribution of unpaid care work - women globally perform unpaid care work 3.2 times more than men."
Last month, consulting firm Mckinsey also noted many tech layoffs attributed to Al so far had been in roles disproportionate…

Significant delays expected once the Port Reopens
Protesters have set up a blockade at Kilrain, which is approximately a mile from Rosslare Europort This is in place since early Thursday morning
Only passenger traffic is currently being permitted to pass through.
For a period yesterday accompanied pharmaceutical freight was permitted through, but that has now stopped also since yesterday afternoon.
There is currently about a mile of a tail back of trucks.
We will shortly be facing challenges as we have two ships coming in tomorrow/early Monday morning and once they off-load we will have no further capacity. We will then have to turn ships back to wait on anchor out from the port or advise to go to an alternative port.
Once the blockades are lifted, it will take some time to get the port cleared before we can take any more freight in and the port may need to put restrictions on capacity during this time.

Chive Bunny has completed her Winter Moulting and commenced her Spring Moulting - it’s hard being a rabbit all the same.

A mostly white rabbit with brown patches on her nose, eyes, ears, and back, sitting looking like a pear drop with her ears back on a plaid rug in heather tones: her outline is not smooth, but has individual hairs frizzing out. Her head is down, basically insisting that I scratch her itchy face.

My eldest knitted herself a cardi using punk rock mohair I’d gotten her for Christmas, so she used some of the vintage buttons from my Gran’s button box to finish it. I’d have done it differently: and that’s the joy of making your own stuff right there, you can do your own thing :)
