Legislative Assistant Minneapolis DFL Chair Communications Director 📍Minneapolis she/her | my views do not reflect those of my employer "People don't live their lives through statistics." - Zohran Mamdani
I then headed to North to spend some time at Capri Plaza for the Black Business Week Street Mall! I got the sour green apple water ice (yum 😋) and bought a few books from Liberate Your Bookshelf.
After a quick lunch at home, I hopped on the bus and headed to Bottineau Recreation Center in NE to support Abdul Abdi, our District 1 @mplsdfl.org school board candidate running for reelection this year!
Started the day in St. Cloud for the Minnesota Young DFL (@mydfl.bsky.social) Convention where I'm honored to be Vice President of Operations and [temporary] At-Large Director.
Peggy Flanagan tells a powerful story connecting Angie Craig's vote for the Laken Riley Act (the only Minnesota DFLer to support it) to a little girl in Richfield who's favorite part of school- field trips - was halted due to the ICE.
Minnesota Young DFL is having our convention on July 25 in St. Cloud! If you're interested in joining the organization or running for an elected position, COMPLETE THIS FORM by Wednesday, July 15! 🔗 docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F... Let's get organized before the critical 2028 elections.
Hey, so... it's my birthday 🎂 If you want to get me anything I am accepting coffee money (I'm drinking significantly more of it these days)
I've been Minneapolis DFL Chair for exactly 8 weeks. As the first Black woman to hold this position, it was awesome to spend the day at Bethune Park for a Juneteenth celebration surrounded by community, history, and culture. 2026, and Black women are still making history.
Live your truth, but I was not the one having a tantrum in that conversation ✌🏾
I'm excited to announce that @mydfl.bsky.social, @stonewalldfl.bsky.social, @dfl-progressives.bsky.social, and DFL Environmental Caucus are hosting "Community Caucus Kickback: A Party with Progressives" at State Convention! This is a chance to connect with passionate progressives from across MN!
On Sunday, I joined DFL leaders at the Somali Caucus Annual Meeting where Qays Kays won another term as chair. I am thankful for the invitation to continue meeting DFL organizers from across the city! 📸: Somali TV MN
Zack Filipovich, candidate for State Auditor, is having a Community Roundtable on Tuesday, May 5 at 7 PM for CD 5 (CD 2 is at 6 PM). You can sign up at this link: app.impactive.io/campaigns/za...
Do you live in @sd63dfl.bsky.social and are interested in joining you local organizing unit? Consider being a local DFL Officer! SD 63 is looking for a fundraising director, a technology officer, and a communications Director - join the team!
Regarding request 3: The CoC is appointed by the State Executive Committee (SEC). Each Congressional District DFL has a website. 2SLGBTQIA+ DFLers should reach out to voting members of the State Executive Committee (your CD chairs) and make your voice heard.
As Chair and Vice Chair of the Minneapolis DFL, Eli Sherman and I, in order to put words into action, requested three things from the State DFL following the DFL Code of Conduct (CoC) Committee dismissing complaints of transphobia during a DFL Community Caucus meeting. 🧵
As of about 3:30 PM, April 18, 2026, I am Chair of the Minneapolis DFL. Thank you to the delegates for trusting me and my vision for the future of our unit. I believe I am the first Black woman to hold this position, and I do not talk that lightly. Representation matters.
Our city unit needs leadership that invites participation and equips participants to engage effectively. Luna and Ash know that I will be a party chair for every DFLer and stand firm in our progressive values. It’s an honor to have their endorsements for Minneapolis Chair.
My friend and colleague, Christie, embodies the compassionate, neighborism we need in the DFL. From working on policy solutions together to driving me to the ER, I’ve learned so much from them and how she shows up. I’m honored to have her endorsement to lead the Minneapolis DFL.
Meghan was one of the first people I met in my DFL journey, and I’m honored to call her a friend. Alongside her and many other DFLers, I will ensure an inclusive Minneapolis DFL where we can turn our DFL values into real positive change for our communities.
Now more than ever, we need firm, steady leadership in the Minneapolis DFL rooted in neighborism and compassion. I’m proud to be endorsed by Brandon, former CD5 DFL Chair, who understands this first hand and knows I’m capable of moving our party unit in the right direction.
The DFL has always included a coalition of ideologies aimed at supporting working class people and encouraging them to get involved in grassroots organizing and governance. I'm disappointed that in this political moment, some are seeking to divide rather than unify.
At the heart of the work before all DFL units, is to bring disaffected voters and marginalized neighbors back into the organizing work that helps us move the policies we care about. I’m honored to have @mydfl.bsky.social Communications Director Rudy Meyer's endorsement in this regard.
We can do so much as a party to engage, educate, and empower our neighbors to participate in the party outside of election years. I’m proud to have SD62 Chair, Michael Abramson’s support and recognition that knowledge, communication, and relationships matter in this work.
I don’t approach leadership as a hierarchy – it’s never resonated with me. My fellow party officers would be partners in this work where we find our common goal and work together to achieve it. Thank you Mpls DFL Vice Chair, Natalie Cherne, for recognizing this as a strength.
So much of my work at the legislature – from tracking bills to answering constituent emails to managing interns – prepares me to be a diligent, detail-oriented, and engaged chair. I’m grateful to SD31 Director, Adam Martin, for their endorsement on this front!
I'm very excited to be running to be the next Chair of the Minneapolis DFL, and I'm so honored to have a community of organizers and DFL volunteers beside me as I make my way on this journey. I'm excited to see what Saturday brings.
