He told CBS 8 that the U.S. is short millions of units needed to bring housing costs down to affordable levels. A disproportionate number is needed in California's urban areas, including San Diego.
Among the new provisions that could have a significant effect on California:
• Federal grants can be awarded to cities that build more housing, and likewise, taken away from those that don't.
• A regulatory change aimed at making pre-built housing cheaper.
• A program to speed up long-term recovery after natural disasters, such as wildfires.

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) today released this statement on the passing of U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-California).
"Dianne was a trailblazer. She was the first female mayor of San Francisco and then became one of the most consequential senators in history. She was passionate about her causes, and respectful and kind toward her colleagues and constituents. Dianne was a person who knew how to get things done.
"On a personal level, she was a friend. She always had something good to say to start the day. I enjoyed working with Dianne on tough issues as she understood the give and take nature of politics and negotiation.
"I would recommend any young person who is interested in a political life to study the life and career of Senator Dianne Feinstein as a role model.

NIMBYism. But younger people's lived experience of "capitalism" is of central planning and massive shortages of the single most important item they consume. So of course if people tell them the alternative to the status quo is "socialism," a lot of them are going to want that.

Whoever told Lim that the charges against the teen girl had been dropped was wrong. Lim credulously repeated that false claim to a victim and witness, pressured them to give her a quote, and then published a story about their reaction.
That story then went viral.

winger’ reckless disregard for truthfulness is both striking w/r/t how hard-won scientific knowledge is and also perhaps a product of so many basic, hard problems in science being essentially solved.
