Algorithms for survival. Investigating the computing architecture of the mind and brain at its limits. 🧠 Lab account for science only.
New paper + software: calibr brings experiment-based calibration to R. Compare measurement methods across studies, quantify uncertainty about which performs best, and evaluate whether switching methods is worth the cost. Package: github.com/bachlab/calibr Paper: link.springer.com/article/10.3...
How can multilevel causal modeling help us better explain the relation between neuronal activity and cognition? 🧠 Join us next Wednesday at lunch time for a #caiantalk by Prof. Moritz Grosse-Wentrup (@moritzgw.bsky.social ) to learn more about this computational approach to #neuroscience
How can neurocomputation help us understand gambling addiction? 🎲 Join us next Wednesday at lunch time for a #caiantalk by Prof. Jan Peters ( @peterslab.bsky.social @unicologne.bsky.social) on "Skewed mental models: a neurocomputational perspective on problem gambling."
How does attention drive risky choices? 🎲👁️ Join us next Wednesday for a #caiantalk by Prof. Jan B. Engelmann (@uva.nl) on "Distinguishing individual & contextual channels of attention in risky decision-making."
In our latest paper, we address this question in a large sample and in four data modalities. We find responses to outcome omission in all data modalities, but also clear and significant evidence against an expression of prediction errors. #predictionerrors #fearconditioning
[1/2] Join us next week at caian @UniBonn for a hybrid guest lecture by Prof. Dr. Sebastian Gluth (University of Hamburg) on "Unraveling the neural and computational principles of information integration in complex decisions". #caiantalks #decisionmaking #neuroscience Details below ⬇️
