Just shy of two years since I started swimming on the regular and I've just had my first Adult Advanced swimming lesson so I can try and get good enough to escape the medium lane forever!
This is getting a lot of hype for a reason. It's not perfect but this has been my favourite reading experience of 2026 so far. If you're gonna read it, go in as blind as you can.
Are you wearing the- -the Supreme x Paris is Burning tee? Yes. Yes I am. Time for Leeds Pride! 🌈
A random older man asked me (unprovoked) if I cycle a lot today while I was waiting to get into the pool. When I said no he told me he'd clocked my "stonking set of calves" while I was stretching. So that's a nice ego boost for a Friday.
It's a shame this isn't going to happen now because this made me laugh for a full minute this morning in bed.
God bless my office's (lack of) dress code and its genuinely impeccable air conditioning. ☀️
The Guardian have published a top 20 ranking of Robyn's greatest songs. Before I potentially comment something utterly world-shattering to this person in reply - they definitely think the Calum Scott cover is the original, don't they??
Eternally grateful on days like this to work for an organisation that lets me get my legs out when it's too hot. Less grateful for whatever insect in the park decided I was tasty the other day and gave me a bug hickey on my shin.
Day off from the day job to do my gay job - just delivered a session on LGBTQ+ inclusion to creative organisations in Leeds 🏳️🌈
Lore drop for those who didn't know me on The Other Place at the time - 13 years ago today I won my employment tribunal against the boss who fired me 3 hours after telling her I had depression.
If anyone wants to come and join me this Saturday at the Piece Hall in Halifax to see Ethel Cain please let me know! Got a spare ticket now and otherwise I'm going solo.
Dog walk, weekly shop, 4 year old's birthday party, hanging with a friend, 40 lengths in the pool, second dog walk. Stick a fork in me, I am done.
Hopefully on track to swim 300 km this year - heading into the start of June with just shy of 125km done. Anyway was that enough of an excuse to post this? 🤷♂️
Looked over some photos of me from 2019 and yeah...they're not seeing the light of day. Anyway here I am today.
Right pals. I've read some decent stuff this year but nothing that's really wowed me or that I'd give 5 stars to. What was the last thing you read that was a proper, top marks, 5/5 book for you? Open to basically any genre.
I had a fucking blast. Gig was amazing, venue staff all excellent. Didn't love the bit at the end where 80,000 people suddenly all want to leave at the same time so loitered around until it got a bit quieter. Back at the hotel, now to attempt to unwind 🤍
On a whim/because James briefly suggested it one time during a conversation on holiday, I shaved down my facial hair shorter and left my moustache longer. I think I like it? 🥸
The forecast dramatically improved for today compared to what it looked like a week ago when we were packing - but I managed to fit in a cheeky little swim at Playa de la Concha in San Sebastián this afternoon! 🏊♂️💙
