my name is Ben. no colon, no masters. antizionist jew. Used to do a blog about black metal & beer, but now I'm writing about music and life at traumaangel.substack.com all pronouns are fine, I'm too old to care how you perceive me
My best friend got to have an unplanned vet visit this morning because we both needed excitement and I needed to lose a few hundred bucks. (She’s going to be okay, she just has an upset stomach)
It was a rough week, but the music I listened to kept me sane. How about you?
It’s always a good day to go out and experience the world. Saw my friend’s art at a gallery opening then had a great meal before returning home. Also saw a line of people waiting to meet a friendly little snowman, which looked fun.
Looking as messy as I feel, still did something that will hopefully benefit the city I love. If you’re in New York, I hope you will also do each small thing you can to make this a better, more compassionate place.
Hell yeah lastfm and qobuz are cooperating again. This week I decided to see if Job For a Cowboy had more than one decent album (debatable), caught up on some new jams, and listened to a lot of In Flames (including related project Passenger, not whatever the guy in the image is).
Took this picture of Butt Butt the other day and keep going back to it to have a chuckle.
My father, the artist, hard at work. “I need to show this to [his wife/my stepmom].”
Here’s a few pictures I’ve taken so far today. None of me because that’s not the kind of guy my dad is, but here’s my cat anticipating her grandpa’s arrival, my dad enjoying a salad, and my dad having a beer while I had a cola float to beat the heat.
Spent most of my last day of 38 stuck at work, but had breakfast at Thai Diner with my dad (and was too busy to take pictures) and got this picture of my big kitten lady looking demonic. What a good time.
Achieved VIP status at the ramen spot and sometimes they just bring me an extra appetizer. Birthday festivities are off to a great start.
I know this isn't the actual answer for today's Circuits on @puzzmo.com but it's what my brain has been trained to place in this gap because I was 14 when Crazy Town became a thing.
One of my favorite things about Butterscotch is how she sometimes gets weird little wrinkly folds on the top of her head when she snuggles.
Music was so good to me this week. How about you? (note: lastfm isn't great at collab albums, so the Mabe Fratti plays should properly be attributed to Bill Orcutt & Mabe Fratti)
At least the prettiest girl I know is delighted that I cannot spend my afternoon on the patio of a nice little cafe.
Big opinions from the woman who first got me into punk music. Also funny to claim she wasn’t into hardcore when she showed me TSOL before I was even in middle school.
Just realized I never posted most of the pictures from my trip to London. My pal Djamila and I met Paddington, I got my picture with Big Ben for a pal who kept demanding I do it, we had a proper Sunday roast with a Guinness, and I got lots of cute pictures of London being London.
Day two in London, first day feeling human. Had a nice breakfast and a wander through Kensington Gardens before checking out from my hotel this morning.
Day one in London consisted of severe jet lag, a full English with my lovely friend Djamila, puking from travel sickness in a tube station, checking in to my gorgeous hotel, and now having my first pint on UK soil from a local craft brewery. Successful day, all things considered.
