If you get a chance to see LA BOLA NEGRA, take it. It’s DOCTOR ZHIVAGO for gay people. It’s an impeccably filmed multi-generational epic about the rise and fall of nations. But its beating heart is a simple story of finding love and poetry in the chaos of war. I cried many times. It’s so good.
I’ve just finished watching the 12-hour documentary series THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION. It’s great. Even in 1776, America was led by monied graspers protecting self-interest and profit. The persistent ideals of liberty, equality and democracy feel like historical accidents rather than intentions.
I gave some wise advice to a good friend about depression yesterday. Today, I decided to follow my own advice.
I’ve just watched a documentary called FIRE OF LOVE (2022). It’s about 2 married volcanologists who died in an eruption in 1991. It’s a nature film, but it’s mostly a love story. We are small and ephemeral and the earth is vast and humbling and wondrous and alive. A beautiful film
Recuperating by rewatching the 1995 BBC Pride and Prejudice and immediately following it with rewatching the 2026 BBC The Other Bennet Sister Bed rest and 11 hours of the BBC Bennetverse. Fuck yeah!
Me: *checks Wikipedia to see if this bloke was gay* His most famous painting, staring at me from the article:
I’ve just finished watching Season 1 of WIDOW’S BAY. It’s excellent comedy horror. I recommend it to those who like such things
🤷🏳️🌈 #HowGayIs DISCLOSURE DAY? One gay actor playing a sexless character. How new! You know when you watch JULIE & JULIA and you wanna skip the Julie stuff and just watch the Julia bits? Emily Blunt is the Julia Child of this movie If you get a chance to see this movie, stay home and watch ARRIVAL
🤷🏳️🌈 #HowGayIs LEVITICUS? This Aussie horror flick is both allegorically and actually gay. 2 boys in love? ✅ Religious conversion rituals? ✅ Poofter bashing? ✅ It’s fucked up, but also definitely wonderful. Joe Bird and Stacy Clausen are outstanding young leads. It’s scary, awful, hopeful and great
🤷🏳️🌈 #HowGayIs BACKROOMS? There’s one cutoff t-shirt that had no heterosexual business being there. Aside from that, the movie’s pretty straight Except that it’s about trauma and remembering and holding onto the past—which could “read” gay Great performances. Tense. Sad. Wonderful. I loved it
