Warship Wednesday This is the USS Pringle (DD477), one of only 3 Fletcher class destroyers converted to carry a catapult and an OS2U Kingfisher floatplane (the other 2 being the Halford and Stevens). The installation of the catapult required the removal of Mount 53

God I hate autocorrect. Swearing engine? Really? Swearingen Metroliner. This one...the one had the reputation of being an aviation lawn dart.
All of airline timetables are in storage...except for this one. Empire Airlines, timetable effective date April 25, 1982. Equipment was the Fokker F28 and Swearing engine Metroliner. Empire was folded into Piedmont in 1986.
HMS Manxman, one of the rarer, and not oft-mentioned ships in RN service during WWII. Capable of speeds in excess of 40 knots, she and her 5 sisters were classified as fast minelayers, and were armed similar to the Tribal class fleet destroyers built before them.

Here's another prime example of not planning your uptakes very well. This is HMS Princess Royal. The forward searchlight platform is level with the top of The forward uptake, and the spotting top is about 25-30 feet above that. Coal smoke for everyone.

N7275, landing at DAL as Braniff Flight 109 from MEM. Aircraft is shown here in what was originally called "Girard Dark Blue" (although the color is sometimes called "Periwinkle Blue", due to the purplish coloring of the paint.) This color was only applied to one other aircraft in the fleet.
Back a number of years ago, I used to do FlightSim (mainly 2004, where I would replicate old airline schedules. I also managed to get some great screen grabs while doing so. They just don't paint them like this anymore... #BraniffInternational #FlyingColors #ThreeHolers
