Blue Bottle Independent Union
@bbiunion
We are an independent, rank-and-file led union fighting for living wages, democratic control of the workplace, and protection from harassment! bluebottleunion.org linktr.ee/bluebottleunion
Our bargaining team fought hard to push the company to increase wages for baristas so that baristas can live a dignified life. Our union’s final proposal would have seen wages increase by 10% in the first year for all positions and by 14% over the life of the contract.
Their LBFO includes: 1. Wage increases totaling nearly 7% for the life of the contract for all positions. 2. Bereavement leave which is inclusive of chosen family 3. Boston will receive three new holidays, including recognition of Juneteenth, bringing the total to 11 holidays per year.

In case you missed it in our bargaining update — in June baristas voted 84% in favor of authorizing another strike! Baristas cannot wait any longer for livable wages, it’s time for Blue Bottle to negotiate www.bluebottleunion.org/blog/june-20...

Being a Blue Bottle barista doesn’t pay the rent! The average rent paid by a Blue Bottle barista was $1,039 – equivalent to 143 iced coffees! In a day, baristas will make and serve enough coffee equivalent to one month’s rent.
If Blue Bottle has money to expand, then they certainly have enough to pay baristas a living wage. Help us prepare for our next strike by donating to tinyurl.com/bbiu-strike and by pledging to boycott Blue Bottle until we have a strong contract!
Blue Bottle is owned by private equity and expanding! In the past year they’ve opened new locations in Illinois, Las Vegas, Virginia and more! In the fall they hired a “Director of Cafe Development” – a position with a listed compensation between $167,000 - $252,000 a year.
They want to maintain the status quo, and retain the right to make any changes to benefits without negotiating with our union.
For the past two years, Blue Bottle has been engaging in surface bargaining with our union. They are refusing to give our union a counter to our economic proposals demanding a living wage for baristas.

Donate to our strike fund @ tinyurl.com/bbiu-strike As an independent union, we rely entirely on voluntary dues paid by members and on donations from folks like you! Last year, our union distributed over $20,000 in strike pay to baristas protesting Blue Bottle’s unfair labor practices and BS wages.
Yesterday, EB BBIU baristas went on a one day strike to protest the company’s illegal termination of Camden Castillo! If you want to support striking baristas, donate to our strike fund @ tinyurl.com/bbiu-strike
The strike might be over but the boycott continues! Go to linktr.ee/bluebottleunion for updates and to sign our boycott pledge!
