Holy shart, I was today years old when I discovered this (and yes, that is Jack Black in the before times when he was actually a fascinating actor to watch).
I am now in possession of the scripts for the unmade, two-part sequel to THE THING that was intended to be produced for SyFy in the mid-2000's before the plug was pulled over budget concerns. Thank God this wasn't shot in Bulgaria for a few million with shit CGI as was the SyFy way.
I had a stone cold blast revisiting this utterly nutzoid 90s cult classic hilarity. The 4K restoration rescues a teen years cable fave from OOP Hell. I'll need a few days to go through all the extra features. Umbrella Entertainment knocks another out of the park.
