Update! With the completion of the hoods, phase one of Project Electra is complete! She’ll be living in my bedroom while I pivot to art projects I need to have done, but I’m very glad to have gotten to this point!

Update: She now has a cab! I also began fabricating the hood. Once I refabricate the hoods tomorrow using my adhoc brake press, I can pause the project for now and work on art comms again.

Working hard on Project Electra the last couple days, had to reengineer the frame and then start building the superstructure. Look at her! I’m so proud!

I saw an urban coyote today in my neighborhood. It is a good omen. Today will be a good day.

Field research for the Electra project brought me out to the real thing at Traveltown. I went at her with a tape measure and a dream. Eventually I have to convert all of these into 1/8 scale but now I can build her superstructure. Stuff like the curved roof just needs some finessing. #trainart

After some additional research, I've improved Electra's maroon scheme into something more plausible for the period, but also more tasteful. While it sucks having to get rid of the fancy filigree, I know for certain a locomotive like this will stand out massively.

I also have evidence that there was one PE steeplecab with painted lining applied, but it was most likely short lived.

Currently, it's Pacific Electric 1544, as you know from having talked to me Wednesday night. But seriously, my esoteric hyperfocus tends to be etymology. I feel like if I can understand where a word comes from, it can help translation between languages.

Oh yeah, and the best part is I actualy finished a locomotive project for once! I purchased the Atlantic February 2025 from a friend and finally got the wiring done yesterday after painting it and then dithering for so long. All it needs now is a speaker which I can install tonight.
