Little known fact is that insects branched off from felines over 100 million years ago. 😸🤭
I’ve started protecting figs with linen bags so I can harvest them when they taste like pure honey. 🌱🍯🦉
Home again after more time away. Barely enough light to see what I was doing but I couldn’t wait to get out to the garden to find out who was blooming. ☺️🌱🌸
They look so serious until you see them in their wet pantaloons. 🪶 Juvenile Cooper’s hawk.
I think hop cones look so cool at this stage with their wild & crazy hair. 🌱🍺
Cooper’s hawks nested in our big trees again this year and there’s been so much cool activity as the juveniles fledge and learn the ropes right in my backyard. 🪶🩶
Home again and seeking out all the cool things that make this little ecosystem so special. In this case, grass carrying wasps provisioning nests in the vacant mason bee tubes.
Saw a blade of dry grass poking out of the hole so of course I had to investigate. 👀 🔍🐝
Been away for what feels like years. Home just long enough to remember why I miss it so much. ✨
Male Gasteruption “carrot” wasp spotted on feverfew today. The ladies should be around any time now. 🌼🐝
1st of 2026!! 🐝 I’ve been a little bummed because I hadn’t stumbled across any bumblebee nests this year… and then this happened. 🎉
Every year around this time my kitchen gifts me brown lacewings. I find it to be one of the sweetest things about living here. One year it started and it’s been happening every year since. ☺️
Checked some columbine pods to see if the seeds were ready and wasn’t expecting these brilliant green gems. 🌱🤩
