Two beers at Hop Stop this evening, starting with a West Coast Pale from Two Flints, which I gulped half down before taking a photo. I have a can of this at home, so I’m very happy about that! Next one was a lovely hazy from Glasshouse.
I love how The Harp have a permanent @kernelbrewery.bsky.social line!
Well, yesterday’s “Bronze final” was a surprisingly fun match to watch. I enjoyed these two @azvexbrewing.bsky.social beers during the game.
All finished (well, nearly!) at LCBF. More beers from @thornbridge.bsky.social, @verdantbrew.bsky.social, and Anspach & Hobday. Off to another interview now!
Great chat with Steve from Sierra Nevada, with a couple more of their beers, plus one from Double Barrelled.
More US from Brooklyn Brewery and Shogun by Embolden, before a few Sierra Nevada beers (Torpedo and Pils) waiting to speak with Steve Grossman.
Great talk from Garrett Oliver. Next beer was a spicy Gazpacho beer from Hackney Church (wow!) and a hazy from The Veil.
I’m at LCBF and off to see Garrett Oliver’s Keynote speech. First beer is @durationbeer.bsky.social Good Times!
Over the last couple of days I had a lovely @azvexbrewing.bsky.social beer at home, bought in Liverpool; and watched the England match 🥲 at Hop Stop with beers from Beak Brewery, @verdantbrew.bsky.social, and Waldhaus.
This afternoon I took a group of 44 people to Pilgrim Brewery in Reigate. We had a corporate event planned in Reigate which cancelled at the 11th hour. Step up Pilgrim to help us out of a hole and entertain the guests with a great tour and tasting of their cracking beers. Legends!
After a long - and swelteringly hot - day working in Chester, I’m heading back to London. There’s a great taproom at the station and I’ve cooled off with a Sierra Nevada California IPA, and got a couple of train beers from SN and Pohjala.
Following the Azvex visit, I went to @deadcraftybeerco.bsky.social where they still had some of the beers from the Basqueland Brewery Tap Takeover (both were Westies), plus a couple of “dark side” beers from Burnt Mill and Garage Beers (Barcelona). A great city centre bar!
I’m in Liverpool and have paid a visit to @azvexbrewing.bsky.social for some cracking beers.
Another style I enjoy is Dark Mild. It’s got a reputation as being a boring old traditional style but a lot of modern breweries are brewing them. This one is a collab between @newbarns.bsky.social and Omnipollo and is just sublime. A note perfect beer.
Recently I’ve been trying to have as many West Coast IPAs as possible, and this is one I keep coming back to. This is the colour that Westies should be, and such an amazing flavour and aroma. Great work from @indierabble.bsky.social. It’s been keeping me company while editing!
In my continued search for great Westies, I’ve really enjoyed this offering from Two Flints and Baron. Has everything I want in a WCIPA - assertive bitterness, malty backbone, and drinkability.
Happy 250th to America! I’ve celebrated with a couple of great US beers from Brooklyn Brewery and Sierra Nevada
I saw a very funny movie at the cinema this evening - The Invite. Strongly recommend! Enjoyed a great Westie while I was at the cinema - Bosko from @pressuredropbrw.bsky.social. Also strongly recommend!
At Hop Stop this evening I had both of the @verdantbrew.bsky.social x @tate.bsky.social beers to celebrate the Frida Kahlo exhibition opening on 10th July. Starting with Mexican lager “I Would Give Her Flowers”, followed by a hazy IPA called “Tender Thorns”. Two amazing beers for an amazing artist.
After seeing the very funny @aniamagliano.bsky.social at @sohotheatre.bsky.social, and a lovely pizza at Da Michele, we stopped by two pubs - Coach & Horses and The Harp for beers from @kernelbrewery.bsky.social (screwed up the photo of the beer!) and St Austell Brewery.
Watched the England match today at The Lyric, Soho. Came good in the end, but was looking a little bleak for a while! Cracking beers from Bianca Road and Burnt Mill.
Had a lovely Westie from Jerez-based brewery Soul Fire last night. Plus two more of the Aurum beers.
Last night we visited the smallest brewery in the Balearics - Island Brew. First beer was a Mediterranean-style Helles, a little juicier than the OG versions but very refreshing; then an Australian Pale Ale, top notch beer; finally a Märzen, Lovely caramel, malty character.
Episode 138: Brighton - is out now. Featuring @handbrewco.bsky.social, Brighton Beer Blog, and @unbarredbrewery.bsky.social. 🎧 tinyurl.com/yu8xtvnp
Watched the England match this evening in the hotel bar with some supermarket beer finds from Mallorca Beer Co, Aurum, and Cervezas Arriaca. Really impressed with all, especially the Imperial Red IPA. Shame about the football!
I’m in Mallorca for a week on holiday at an All Inclusive resort. The only beer available is San Miguel 😳 So I found a couple of interesting beers at a local supermarket and had them tonight. Both beers for less than €3! Aurum Session IPA Cervezas Arriaca IPA
But that wasn’t all the beers at Hop Stop, as I had a couple more bangers from Beak Brewery. Awesome evening - helped by a positive England result!
Watched the England match at Hop Stop this evening. Nervy, but ultimately good result. Beers from English breweries Beak Brewery and Harveys, plus some German beers (in honour of Tuchel!) from Fuerst Wiacek and Augustiner.
They’re Turning the Friggin’ Frogs Gay! I had this beer, from Closet Brewing, at the Tap Social Change is Brewing with Friends festival a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed it. So I took a can of it home and opened it tonight. Still a banger!
