Last night, we held our annual celebration and bridging ceremony for several levels of Girl Scouts in our community. One of my original Cadettes bridged up to the Senior level, and we welcomed 7 girls to the Cadette troop from Juniors! Thank you to all of you who bought cookies from my troop!

On the left side of a counter is a fresh bouquet of flowers, and lined up to the right are 5 blue gift bags. Three of the bags are larger and have white roses behind them, and two smaller bags are alternated between them.

A small landing with steps on each side has been decorated with balloons and the railing wrapped with green streamers to transform it into a “bridge” for our Girl Scouts bridging ceremony. A small wooden bench is in front of the landing platform with a vase full of flowers.

I am on the right side of the decorated stairs wearing my troop leader vest and welcoming one of my Girl Scouts in a tan vest as she bridges up to Seniors from Cadettes.

I am pictured with three of the girls from my troop this year (girls faces blurred for their privacy). I’m so glad I get to lead these girls and help them to grow!

Last week, I visited the Udvar-Hazy Center of the Air & Space Museum near Dulles airport. When you come to DC next, you should devote a few hours (or a whole day) to exploring it!

Spotted a pair of mergansers in the creek on my way home this evening, and was finally able to get a good pic of them! I’ve seen them in the area off and on for the past year. #UnsolicitedDuckPic #Ducks (@themerl.bsky.social this one is for you!)

Two mergansers (a type of duck) are seen in the middle of a creek paddling upstream. The female has a grey body and a red head and is swimming in front of the male with his bright white feathers on his wings and chest and deep black feathers on his head. The far bank can be seen with some green new growth shooting up from the midst of the dead grasses from last fall, and the trees and bushes beyond are still bare.

Took my dad to visit my sister for the weekend, and on our way into DC to see the cherry blossoms we accidentally joined the No Kings march across the bridge. It was amazing. #NoKingsDay

Waiting to be seen at ExpressCare because my head cold is getting worse. The waiting room is full, and I’m one of two people wearing a mask correctly. There is a nurse at check in wearing a mask, but under her nose. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Here’s hoping it’s a sinus infection and not something worse like the flu

So, the weather forecast on Friday said my area would get a coating to two inches of snow over the weekend… we wound up with around 6 inches of snow from three different storms in about 36 hours. Here’s so pretty photos of the snow

I was supposed to have our first Cookie Booth of the season today… we’ve got 3-4 inches of snow so far and no signs of stopping! Most of our roads are completely untouched, too, and several major highways in the area have been closed.

Hey, there #uglydogs! I forget who was previously discussing condiment cows, but I saw my first Condiment Sow this evening at the PA Farm Show, and knew I had to share.

A “condiment sow” next to a “condiment cow” in a large food court. The sow is a relief made to look like a female pig, with four “teats” hanging under her belly for people to squeeze mustard on their food. The cow is a relief made to look like a cow, with four “udders” containing ketchup and or bbq sauce.

Yum! Here’s what I made:

Got home from my Thanksgiving travels last night, and woke up to the first snow of the season falling outside my bedroom window.

I visited a Buc-ee’s for the first time ever today, and even knowing it was going to be huge, it was overwhelming! I swear I’ve been to Walmarts smaller than this!
