Finally got to see these bad boys today. The Brompton hogbacks are Viking‑age stone tombs from the 900s, carved with end-beasts, (glorious term). Beside them stands an early medieval 'Celtic' cross, its patterns showing Christian influence as Yorkshire shifted from Norse to Anglo‑Saxon rule.
