#StudioOne Radio ep #53 "Private Worlds" (04-May-48). Adapts Phyllis Bottome's Novel (1934) which inbetween was a Movie (19-Apr-35). A bit average again. The wife being in danger from Myra as well as the psych patient wasn't really addressed. Did the wife grass on Myra? archive.org/details/Stud...
#StudioOne After a lost ep which would've been a second go at "Pride and Prejudice" it is Radio ep #52 "South Riding" (27-Apr-48). The ep is introduced, correctly, as the first anniversary of the show. Adapts Winifred Holtby's posthumous Novel (1936) which inbetween was also a Movie (25-Aug-38).
Visited my brother & watched: #Quatermass TV ep #1.02 (25-Jul-53) #DoctorWho TV eps #17.09-17.10 "The Creature from the Pit" [1&2]" (27-Oct-79 to 03-Nov-79) #Sapphire&Steel TV eps #2.08 (29-Jan-81) #TheAvengers TV eps #2.03 "The Decapod" (13-Oct-62) & #4.22 "What the Butler Saw" (22-Feb-66)
#StudioOne Radio ep #50 "The Glass Key" (13-Apr-48). Adapts Dashiell Hammett's novel (1931) that had been serialised in Black Mask (1930) and inbetween was a Movie twice (15-Jun-35 & 23-Oct-42). Decent ep again but plot was a bit too thick in places. www.oldtimeradiodownloads.com/drama/studio...
#StudioOne Radio ep #48 "Babbitt" (30-Mar-48). Walter Huston is the star but Mercedes Mc steals the show yet again. Decent ep but wouldn't make me seek out the novel. Adapts Sinclair Lewis's novel (1922) inbetween a Movie twice (15-Jun-24 & 08-Dec-34). www.oldtimeradiodownloads.com/drama/studio...
#StudioOne Radio ep #47 "The Thirty-Nine Steps" (23-Mar-48). I hated ALL of this. What a sh*tshow. Don't F with the classics! Hannah is now Canadian as Glenn Ford guests FFS! And it's now a romantic romp! Worse than that truncated #Suspense effort! www.oldtimeradiodownloads.com/drama/studio...
#StudioOne Radio ep #46 "One More Spring" (16-Mar-48). I loved this ep so much that I wonder if it deviated from the source? Definitely quite uplifting and some decent comedy intermixed. Adapts Robert Nathan's novel (1933), later a Move (15-Feb-35). www.oldtimeradiodownloads.com/drama/studio...
#StudioOne Radio ep #44 "Uncle Harry" (02-Mar-48). The Hollywood star this week is Michael Redgrave. Adapts the stage play by Thomas Job (12-Sep-42) which in between had been a US Movie (17-Aug-45). This was more like a #Suspense ep than I expected. www.oldtimeradiodownloads.com/drama/studio...
RIP Kevin Keegan. I saw him play once on his first Friendly match for Southampton verses Shamrock Rovers in Lansdowne Road in 1980.
#MutantX In my post World Cup reboot as well as #Sliders and #FirstWave walkthroughs beginning so is this "Mutant X" walkthrough. Mainly as I'm feeling a need for quick non-linked superhero show.
#FirstWave In my post World Cup reboot I also just bought the sole novel for this show. So as soon as it arrives "First Wave" is also promoted up the batting order.
#Quatermass TV 1.01 cont'd. Having watched 100's of live US TV drama from 1948-55 how does this compare? Remarkably ambitious & goof free. You ain't seen nerve murdering live TV drama till you've seen #RockyKing, #MartinKane et al. This recorded on Kinescope or recorded to film from a monitor?
#Sapphire&Steel TV 2.07 cont'd. This fourth serial has pace. Already the duo found the pics, worked out where the kids came from, that the disappearance of the house mate is significant and that the two different shop owners are relevant. The end reveal is TV of all time legend, nightmare fuel.
Visited my brother and watched: #TheQuatermassExperiment #1.01 "Contact Has Been Established" (18-Jul-53) #SapphireAndSteel #2.07 (27-Jan-81) #DoctorWho #2.28 - #2.29 "The Space Museum [3 & 4]" (08 & 15-May-65) #TheAvengers #2.12 "Death Dispatch" (22-Dec-62) & #6.10 "Noon Doomsday" (28-Oct-68)
#Dragnet TV 11.06 cont'd. Dee Carroll is back and in comedy mode: #Dragnet TV ep #5.13 "The Big Bounce" (25-Jan-55) #GreenHornet TV ep #1.04 "Crime Wave" (30-Sep-66) #Dragnet TV ep #10.25 "The Suicide Attempt" (29-Feb-68) #TheNextStepBeyond TV ep #1.01 "Tsunami" (05-Jan-78) More Dee is coming too!
#Dragent So added in are "The D.A." 1969-71: 2 x TV Movies 1971-72: 15 x TV eps "Emergency!" 1972-79: 7 x TV Movies 1972-77: 121 x TV eps "Emergency +4" 1973-74: 23 x Animated TV eps "Sierra" 1974: 11 x TV eps 1974: 1 x TV Movie Can I even find these shows anywhere??? TBD!!!
#StudioOne Radio ep #43 "Kings Row" (24-Feb-48). Adapts Henry Bellaman's Novel (1940) that in between was a Movie (02-Feb-42). There's no incest in this radio ep but the father does brutalise the daughter. An uncomfortable listen. So a bit heavy a fit for this series. archive.org/details/Stud...
#StudioOne Radio ep #42 "A Farewell to Arms" (17-Feb-48). Another epic novel that mostly fits into this 60' slot. From Ernest Hemingway's novel (1929). Later a stageplay (22-Sep-30), 2 Movies (07-Dec-32 & 14-Dec-57), Radio (05-Apr-37), TV Miniseries (15-Feb to 01-Mar-66). archive.org/details/Stud...
#Dragnet Season 11 begins Fall 1968. It's called "Dragnet 1969". It made the top 20 for 1968-69 US TV season. Thursday 9.30pm on NBC against: CBS: "CBS Thursday Night Movie", ABC variously: "Journey to the Unknown" (UK horror), "What's It All About, World?" (sketch), "This is Tom Jones" (music).
#Dragnet TV 10.27 cont'd. They sold a dummy with each of the 3 suspects. Very #RockyKing! The foreman having a hot office chick g/f sold me. She is new: Sharon Harvey. Far too short an IMDB alas. Here she is with Robert Wanger in the movie "It Takes A Thief". Don't go boating with him eh Sharon!
#StudioOne Radio ep #39 "The Great Impersonation" (27-Jan-48). Another strong ep. I wondered if that end twist would happen and indeed it does so I was chuffed. Adapts E. Phillips Oppenheim's novel (1920), later 3 Movie adaptations (09-Oct-21, 09-Dec-35 and 18-Dec-42). archive.org/details/Stud...
#StudioOne Radio ep #38 "The Amazing Dr Clitterhouse" (20-Jan-48). Another strong ep. Had this been #Suspense we'd be done in 30' but this holds together for 60'. Adapts Barré Lyndon''s play (06-Aug-36) later a movie (20-Jul-38). archive.org/details/Stud...
