Yesterday, I happened to run into my referee friend Ngemi who I had not seen in a while. Turns out he was in ICE detention for 5 months. He was as at the @oaklandballers.bsky.social game throwing out the first pitch on immigration night. Also, I got to hold the baby.

Yesterday I accomplished my dream of covering sports as credentialed media. I come from a family of journalists and have sometimes regretted not going into the business. Yesterday was very cool.
Well, I didn’t anticipate a war and a spring cold snap when I made that prediction last year.

BPD has 20 officers at the top of my block running a DUI checkpoint on a random Thursday because “there are events in SF around this time. Seems like a lot of resources deployed for very little possible gain. Maybe set up closer to Telegraph or downtown?
