Promoting bicycling and advocating for safe and equitable transportation for all.
The West Park Better Streets Committee was started in 2022 to promote active transportation and advocate for better infrastructure for people biking and walking in the neighborhood. Join their group ride this Sunday and get involved! www.bikecleveland.org/bike-walk-we...
Dangerous air quality means our youth bike camp participants can't ride outdoors - so - how about a fix-a-flat tournament complete with brackets?
We're not fans of removing bike lanes, but this one is an exception. We warned riders years ago not to use it, and now it's gone - replaced by a proper turn-box directing riders to the incredibly safer separated bikeway on the north side of the bridge. www.bikecleveland.org/bike-cle/new...
Fun to see all ages out exploring on the West Park Neighborhood Greenway 😍
The West Park Neighborhood Greenway street markings are being painted this week! These, along with the signage already in place, will guide people on bikes to streets with low vehicle speeds and volumes to provide safer bicycle and ped connections. www.bikecleveland.org/neighborhood-greenways/
One of our staff members reported worn bike lane paint on Broadview Road using the the @cityofcleveland.bsky.social's online 311 reporting system. Three (3!) days later fresh lines are in place. It's an effective way to report non-emergency issues. www.clevelandohio.gov/311

We all know that at times, Cleveland's bike lanes can gather some serious crud. The City makes it's best efforts to remove debris - but we see this pedal-powered sweeper as a way to help bridge the gap & keep common routes cleaner and safer more often. Help crowdfund one! bikecle.rallyup.com/sweeper
Thank you for joining us in solidarity with our DC friends. GOOD NEWS: A judge blocked to the removal of the bike lane in DC because the move did not include indication that the agencies “examined the relevant data and articulated a rational connection between the facts found and the choice made.”
Part of our Better Streets movement is empowering residents to lead rides in their neighborhoods. Rides that explore and experience the trouble spots, the improvements that have happened, and to build the confidence to push for more. www.bikecleveland.org/our-work/bet...

Wednesday Wisdom: “Vulnerable Road Users” is now recognized in Ohio Law in Section 4511.01(BB) of the Ohio Revised Code. By recognizing vulnerable road users in state law, Ohio clarifies that streets are shared spaces meant to serve a variety of travelers.
📸 We're preparing our Crash Report, and we're seeking your local crash images. Could be the aftermath of a motor vehicle crash, a personal roadway incident on your bicycle, or even the damage and debris left behind after a collision. You can DM them to us, or email them to jenna@bikecleveland.org

Right now: Whether it's a polar vortex, or lake effect squalls -- 25% of Cleveland residents (higher in some neighborhoods) don't have access to a motor vehicle -- and they often bike where they need to go through it all.
