bikes buses buildings in Seattle
the "corridor zoning" we're talking about is literally half a block deep (right). it could at least be 1/4 mile or a 5-min walk (left).
Mike Eliason's dream block. Unrealistic tree cover on the rest of the picture though, which basically looks like disconnected SFH and townhouses.
just like... imagine showing up at a Sprouts in a blue city wearing this. you'd get some uncomfortable stares!
In the last decade, Seattle has gone through an incredible transformation. I remember fighting traffic as I biked under the viaduct. And now we have the new waterfront, Expedia park, and the new Myrtle Edwards. I'm just overwhelmed with how great all this is 💚
and sonnet uses way less. even if you go with the 5.5 numbers... that's 1/3 of one single burger.
Pretty brazen of @sound-transit.bsky.social to keep marketing their (likely, probably) out of date map on their swag lol. I love my shirt but hoo boy have i gotten some comments about ballard while wearing it recently.
Both of your images are AI, and you're taking advantage of your followers. This is what the South Lawn actually looks like
yeah i've seen and shared that chart too. just bc it's broken into into nice clean red/blue rectangles, you can't let that fool you into thinking jan 20th it immediately shifts into the good/bad zone for 4 years. reality is messier: here's same data. doesn't map as cleanly as the prez term chart.
back at the community feedback meeting a couple years ago people were so mad about the idea of taking a driving lane that they proposed building a trail on the west side. argument was parks dept owns a lot of the land. technically true! and both of us knew it was a BS dead end stalling proposal.
one-way would be nice too, but this goes back to my theory of parking: the appeal of the car comes down to the infrastructure people use it on. Disrupt the easy flow and people will use this street extremely differently.
Went to LWB a few times this weekend. It was great, except for the occasional non-local cars still on it. I bet if we securely, closed some of these sections then traffic would cut in half. break up the trip just enough people would find a different arterial - all without blocking any driveways.
