My Skagway home in summer morning light today. Shgagwei, Lkoot Kw'aan, Lingít Aaní.
Scored this great rolltop desk for my office today; Shgagwei, Lkoot Kw'aan, Lingít Aaní. The kei truck was the perfect delivery vehicle: low, light, and tiny enough to back right up my walkway.
Hot sunny day, delightful for returning from my Juneau storage with a load for the Skagway house. Aak'w Kw'aan to Shgagwei, Lkoot Kw'aan, Lingít Aaní.
Mama black bear and cub crossing a back road in the morning, Daakha Kw'aan, Lingít Aaní.

I am finally into my Skagway house this afternoon, yay! It is recorded and the former owners got their things taken care of, so I am settling back in and editing the GoPro kiting photos. Here's action at our Yukon Wind Camp this week. Daakha Kw'aan, Lingít Aaní. 🙏😃❤️
A day at Wild Waves water and amusement park yesterday, south of Seattle, with my daughter Heather and the grandkids. We did the water slides and rides, too, but they were too wet for photos. Coast Salish territory.
Grandkids Kiddo and Kidlet at swim lessons today, Seattle, Coast Salish lands.
Mukwa, black bear, grazes the road shoulder on the way to Whitehorse yesterday. In Seattle with my daughter Heather and grandkids today. ❤️
Moving out of my Juneau house this week, putting everything in storage until I can move it to the new Skagway home. It dried out enough today to give the lawn a good mowing. Dzantik'i Heeni, Aaak'w Kwáan, Lingít Aaní.
Shredding with the wolverine, nóosk. She was belly-sliding down the mountain in the soft spring snow wherever it was open, running in her usual bounding stride when there were obstacles or a blind roll. I was snowboarding. Shgagwei, Lkoot Kw'aan, Lingít Aaní.
Finished up the North Words Writers' Symposium today; four excellent days of panels, writing practice, readings, sharing, coaching. At the keynote banquet tonight, Willy Vlautin spoke with Dan Henry interviewing, and sang some lovely heartfelt songs too. Shgagwei, Lkoot Kw'aan, Lingít Aaní.
Back to the railroad after a day of spring fieldwork with Norm and Mary, Shgagwei, Lkoot Kw'aan, Lingít Aaní.
Snowboarding with the bears; crossing my three-day-old uptrack which two bears followed two days ago, on the way down from fieldwork on the Pass yesterday. It's good to see our relatives out and roaming the hills! Shgagwei, Lkoot Kw'aan, Lingít Aaní.
View to our little town on the fjord, from the mountains. From snow to green leaves, this time of year. Shgagwei, Lkoot Kw'aan, Lingít Aaní.
The light at the end of the tunnel; 16 Mile, Shgagwei, Lkoot Kw'aan, Lingít Aaní.
The cottonwood leaves are opening in gentle spring rain today, Shgagwei, Lkoot Kw'aan, Lingít Aaní.
Twisted stalk, Streptopus amplexifolius, is suddenly sprouting along the creek in my backyard. Shgagwei, Lkoot Kw'aan, Lingít Aaní.
Our artful operator first builds a catchment trench and stopping dam below a rock ledge that sheds ice onto the tracks, then takes some of the big ice boulders and stacks them into ice sculpture, delicately placing each one with the big machine. Shgagwei, Lkoot Kw'aan, Lingít Aaní.
They are more frost-nipped in this cold spring than usual, but they are there, growing and green in the backyard stream today, between frozen-hard riverbanks. Marsh marigolds, Caltha palustris. Shgagwei, Lkoot Kw'aan, Lingít Aaní. 🙏
No Kings Skagway, Alaska. 21 cars, 38 people; not bad for a tiny town and last-minute spontaneous organization. Shgagwei, Lkoot Kw'aan, Lingít Aaní.
Fieldwork today involved lots of traveling to check out slopes before our crew cleared them, but a scenic, wind-sheltered lunch spot in the first warm spring sunshine was lovely, and we had the bonus of shallow but smooth powder on the way down. Shgagwei, Lkoot Kw'aan, Lingít Aaní.
