Visitor, scriever, ex-prof/-makar/-you name it, loser. Still seeking your poems for endlessly subdividing online/print projects: Ghost Furniture Catalogue; New Boots and Pantisocracies (Art Sonnet Chain); New Gude & Godlie Ballatis (Dundee Renga), etc.
I took a photo of this very object when I was there! (Although I remember I made the rather weird assumption it was an unborn baby and that the spiral was its umbilical cord.)
Very fond of the tale of Alexander’s submersible, complete with cat and cockerel - clearly the #YellowSubmarine of its day, only clearer, what with it being made of glass. The cat in this collage (from #TheIconostasisOfAnxiety is from that very vehicle:
Why, I know several of those octopuses by name, and call out to them, should we pass in the street. However, we’re currently in the mountains west of Rethymno, so opportunities are few…
I couldn’t find an image of the Belgian Surrealists in a fake aeroplane, but there is this one of them in a sieve, perhaps planning a voyage by sea:
There are four or five quite odd songs I never thought would get through - Albania was one, #Lithuania another. #Eurovision
#Eurovision Only #Serbia so far have acknowledged that they (and indeed we) are at the Hellmouth:
Sorry to hear that, Helen. Here’s a small sending of strength however that’s supposed to get there:
You’ve reminded me of this snap I took kind of for #Easter of the biggest dug in the wee-est snug. (Yes, the dog _is_ wearing an #EasterBunny outfit. Because it is a top hound.) #Dundee #HoundsOfDundee #StarAndGarter
Talking of which, I saw this fine example of the chair/steps at #Arbikie Distillery the other day.
@tamaryoseloff.bsky.social’s sonnet to #AnaMendieta ends on such a strong last line. Here’s the build to that, plus an image from @tate.bsky.social: …Blood sister, you bloom in flame, sprout feathers and fly, incite a riot of blossom. Here you never die… #NewBootsAndPantisocracies #ArtSonnetChain
…and her thinking about duration and durability: should art ‘last’? Is ‘probably’ an acceptable answer? (‘Untitled or Not Yet’, (1966) photographed in #EvaHesse’s Bowery apartment/studio in 1969 by Hermann Landshoff.) #ArtSonnetChain #KaddyBenyon
File this in the triquetra between Furniture, Futility, and Futurism:
Merry #Thrapplecramfest! Is it trolley time yet? @janeburn.bsky.social has thought of everything: #GhostFurnitureCatalogue
Basically, if you’ve got that yen to express, to make new patterns in language, and you’d quite like to explore where these sorts of impulses come from, then this is the course for you - just in time to go on your Xmas list… @faberacademy.bsky.social #WritingPoems (2/2)
By a remarkable coincidence, I took a pic of a similar specimen on a nudibranch line in Bristol.
The thought drifted back & forth between ghost, furniture, and catalogue that it would be good to mark #WilliamBlake’s birthday somehow in the #GhostFurnitureCatalogue… Imagine our delight when we stumbled upon this verse paragraph from ‘Jerusalem’ only barking our shins slightly!
On Valentine’s Day #LindaFrance began our #EcoSonnetChain for which 14 poets each wrote a sonnet linked by last & 1st lines. She said, ‘Our chain aims to embody the Amazonian ethic of mutirão – collective action based on the understanding everything is connected to everything else.’ (1/3)
#MidnightWaterbearUpdates I suppose in a sense it’s always night practically everywhere in space:
Here is the ghost of that very letter ‘s’ looking for the #BrendanCleary pamphlet referred to in yesterday’s post. #GhostFurnitureCatalogue
I particularly like the swivel in perspective halfway through #MatthewCaley’s poem for the #GhostFurnitureCatalogue, where the poem begins to view something alarming in the distance that turns out not to be so far away after all. @bloodaxebooks.bsky.social #BlueprintPoetryPress
#NewBootsAndPantisocracies #ExecutiveDisobediences There’s an ironic call-and-response in @anneberkeley.bsky.social’s poem in which it seems one half of the page can’t hear what the other half is saying:
Here’s Emma Must’s photo of her fragile subject and a link to her website: www.emmamust.com #EcoSonnetChain #NewBootsAndPantisocracies (2/3)
Just blaan in. Turns oot there are _fower_ seasons. Aa the Pessoas telt us till they were blue in the fisses… Plus a quartet o X-Men (and Shostakovich) micht hae mentioned it. Translations o a hotch o heteronyms frae @brambrella.bsky.social and @carcanet.bsky.social, and affy fine they are tae.
Yes, I was given that edition by someone who didn’t realise I already had the Virago, and thought exactly the same thing. (All the Virago Carringtons feature her work, and very splendid they look as a result!) #LeonoraCarrington
Loved this article about the elusive #GhostOrchid so much, I began a collage which, in the slant-wise fashion of such things, then hardly referred to it. Clearly a plant destined for the #GhostFurnitureCatalogue garden centre, there to remain ‘out of stock’. www.theguardian.com/environment/...
Here’s a link to the #NewBootsAndPantisocracies website: newbootsandpantisocracies.wordpress.com And here’s a lovely pic of the pamphlet, with a cover by @sophieherx.bsky.social (2/2)
