Someone had a long hard (fun!) day with her side piece at doggy daycare today…

The prettiest grey and white pibble pup sleeps on my lap after work. She lays between my legs, which are covered in super cute white Gap pajama bottoms with foxes printed on them. She lays on her left side, snoring gently with her right paw thrown up and over my left thigh.

Animal health officials working quickly to protect US Livestock and Wildlife

Washington, DC- June 03,2026 - the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Servis (APHIS) confirmed the detection of a New World Screwworm (NWS) in a bovine in Zavala County, Texas. NWS is a serious pest that affects livestock, pets, wildlife, and less commonly, people and birds. NWS larvae (maggots) burrow into the flesh of living animals, causing serious damage to livestock and economic losses.

The affected animal is a 3-week-old calf and larvae were identified in its umbilical area. To date, there have been no further detections.

“All models showed New World Screwworm entering the country in 2025; however, thanks to the hard work across the entire Trump administration and our industry, state, and local partners, we were able to buy time for this moment. Protecting our livestock industry is a national security issue of the utmost importance, and USDA is wasting no time in taking action,” said Dudley Hoskins, Under Secretary for Marketing and Regulatory Programs. “USDA invested heavily in the tools needed to eliminate NWS ever since cases started increasing in Central America and Mexico. The United States has defeated this pest before, and we will do it again.”

Today I made a kitty “retainer”

Spending this rainy afternoon on the bed with my Bochy. I love this cat! He’s quickly become very ill and it just keeps getting worse. He’s become so severely anemic in the past TWO DAYS he now requires a blood transfusion. But it won’t solve the as yet not fully understood problem(s)…. 🥺😭😿

All black kitty curled up and snoozing on a bed. The bedspread is a floral print on tan background. Kitty is almost 16 and is not well though feeling comfortable.

His name is Bochy and he came to me the day the Giants won the World Series in 2010. He is the best kitty and he owns my heart and I am so so sad to say goodbye to him.

Took Evie on a walk thinking we had time to get back from Robert’s before the rain started, but we were wrong. So now I am in PJs cuddling on the couch while Paul starts cooking beans! It was 68 degrees when I went in the store and 54 when I came out 5 minutes later!

Me, on the couch in my Christmas 2024 Star Wars pajamas, with Evie, an adorable grey and white pibble on my lap. We just got caught in a cold 🥶 rain at the end of our walk. Ran home, dried off, changed out of wet clothes, and now we cuddle and watch a movie!

We said goodbye to Sonic this morning. Two pets in 5 1/2 months sucks no matter how old they were. Sonic came into our lives 14 years ago. She was four weeks old with a skull fracture and I brought her home for overnight fluids and told everybody “don’t get attached. She’s not going to make it“

Today I prepared a jaguar’s canine teeth for metal prosthodontic crowns. He already has had root canal treatment on three that he’s broken (most recently last month) so we’re making the metal crowns to protect what he has left! I’m almost giddy it’s so much fun!!

I’m getting really excited that I actually get to put crowns on this guy’s teeth…

The lower left canine (304), on the right side of the photo, is fractured and the vital portion or pulp of the tooth is exposed. This fracture necessitated a root canal procedure on this tooth.$
