This morning I’ve been mostly keeping my NALS skills up to date by resuscitating a drowsy bumble bee .She’s definitely moving about more now and can fly short distances but not flown away .i may have a new pet

Diving into The barbecue at no 9 .i adored The list of suspicious things Jennie’s first book so have very high hopes for this one .for some reason NetGalley didn’t accept me for this one so it will be one of the few books I had to buy this year
Look what I made I saw it on an instagram post last year and learned to knit so I could make myself one .my son and husband both want it now .sits the embrace octopus sweater .just love how the tentacles wind over the body and arm
I know I’m nuts but January has so few blue days that I can sit on my garden and read .its -2degC today but bright and intermittently sunny I’ve very much enjoyed my hour and a half in my winter garden with my kindle .
Finished my Toft advent calendar today a gift and part of the project every day for 24 days in December.we’ve made a jointed Pinocchio puppet and his cricket pal #edsadvent25 .Given the chaotic time we’ve been having recently it’s a miracle I finished him

View from this mornings reading spot I’m on book 3 of my Booker prize long list 2025 which is the loneliness of Sonia and sunny . By Kiran Desai it’s great but at 688 pages pretty substantial it may take more than a day to get into this one .i got an early copy on NetGalley uk it’s out in September
Home now I’m sitting gazing lovingly at the beautiful colours knowing they all will need balling up from their skeins but that’s another day .Currently they exist as potential only rather like a seed that will eventually flower
I promised myself last week that I would only buy wool that I had patterns for already but of course faced by the cornucopia of beauty I panic bought until the bag on the back of my chair was full then took myself home before I started to fill another bag .
I’m now sitting at home admiring my stash I particularly liked the way that one dyer used local landmarks in Birmingham as her influences and another had colours influenced by famous paintings
In lots of pain this morning but I had tickets to a local wool festival in Ampthill so I forced myself out early this morning and had a whizz round on my chair .Of course several bundles of hand dyed loveliness came home with me .Retail therapy best pain relief ever

What are you reading today? I’m reading The Fathers by John Niven. This is absolutely fabulous ,published yesterday so you can get hold of it and I thoroughly recommend it. full review to come but this is one of those books that I’m posting how great it is before I’ve finished

Just home from my trip on the pride train ! Thameslink has painted both ends of this train with a pride flag and had posters inside with staff members saying how important pride is to them .As an Ali a friend to queer people and a lover of the rainbow I rather loved it
